西游记第五集：悟空曾经观音指点，愿皈依佛门，日夜等待取经人。玄奘路经五行山，揭起如来的压帖，救出悟空，为他取名孙行者。师徒同行，夜宿农舍，一道白光中，唐僧的白马消失，悟空寻到鹰愁涧，与小白龙恶战，不曾取胜。夜间，三强盗来打劫农舍，悟空打死全部匪徒，唐僧责他杀生，悟空赌气离开师父。在东海老龙王劝导下，悟空回心转意，并从老龙王的讲述中，明白了西海龙太子的遭遇。唐僧独自西行，路遇观音变幻的妇女，赠他织锦花帽，并教以紧箍咒。悟空回到师父身边，戴上了花帽，从此便受到了紧箍咒的制约。观音前来点化，小白龙变成了唐僧的白龙马。
