Born in Colombia, on February 2, 1977, Shakira is a hugely successful Colombian pop singer and dancer. As a kid, she often used to sing and dance at school and as a result, she earned the nickname ‘the belly dancer girl’. She wrote her first song at the age of 8 and signed her first record deal at the age of 13. After achieving success in Spanish-speaking markets, she moved to Miami, Florida at the age of 20 to increase her American fan base. And 4 years later she would produce big hits such as "Whenever, Wherever" and "Underneath Your Clothes" from her first English album "The Laundry Service". The album went multi-platinum and is considered the most successful album of her career. In 2010, her hit "Waka Waka" from 2010's 'Sale el Sol 'became the theme song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It was during this time that she entered into a relationship with Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué and had 2 children. In 2016, the Colombian singer participated in the dubbing and music of the animated film Zootopia. Shakira created the Pies Descalzos Foundation to help children in her native Colombia receive a quality education. Besides being the queen of Latin American pop she is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and a philanthropist.
