16:27Who is it?
16:28Jack McKenzie, ma'am.
16:30I'm a stranger in these parts.
16:31Are you Miss Bain?
16:33Yes, but I don't cater to strangers knocking on my doors this time of the night.
16:36I was hoping you might allow me to rest my horse and get some sleep.
16:40In the morning, I'd like to talk over some business with you.
16:42Business?
16:49Thank you, ma'am.
16:51Just a minute.
16:52Explain what you want.
16:54I don't blame you for being cautious in an open country like this.
16:58But all I want is just a place to sleep.
17:00You said you had some business to talk over with me.
17:02What is it?
17:04I heard in Mesa City today that you wanted to sell this place.
17:07Well, I might be interested if you'd give me a couple of days to look it over.
17:12I do want to sell, but to a party that the Navajos will accept, too.
17:16That's right.
17:17That's what I meant by looking the place over.
17:19I'd like to get acquainted with them, too.
17:21That is, if we can make a deal.
17:24But I reckon that can wait till morning.
17:27Well, I guess it'll be all right.
17:30Mama D, get some blankets.
17:33Thank you, ma'am.
17:35Good night.
17:47Good night.
18:06Oh, it's you, Steve.
18:07Joe didn't think you'd be coming by this way this late, so he went on home.
18:10Who's the stranger?
18:11I'm letting him put up in the stable for the night.
18:13Oh, you are, huh?
18:15Here you are.
18:20Blanket.
18:21Thank you, Mama D.
18:23Steve Rellen.
18:26Good night.
18:27Good night.
18:29You're not bedding down here, stranger.
18:32But you are piling on that horse and coming along with me.
18:35Steve Rellen, you put that gun away and mind your own business.
18:37Let him go ahead, miss.
18:38I want to hear what he has to say.
18:40You know what we think of strangers loafing around on this range, Bonita.
18:44And I think the ranchers will be mighty interested in questioning this one.
18:47Did you say ranchers?
18:49Yeah, who else would be interested in the wrestling going on around here?
18:52It seems to me you're doing an awful lot of talking in front of this young lady.
18:55And I'm backing that talk up, too.
18:57Steve.
19:14I'm sorry, miss, but there was no other way.
19:17He got just what he deserved.
19:19Pick up that gun.
19:25Now, Steve Rellen, you get back to your own range business and leave my affairs alone.
19:29Mr. McKenzie is here to buy this post.
19:44Now you go and worry Joe about your being here.
19:47Joe Roskins is the owner of the Circle J outfit.
19:50Steve Rellen is his new foreman and thinks he can boss everybody else's business.
19:54But you forget that and get your rest, Mr. McKenzie.
19:57Thank you, ma'am.
19:58Good night.
19:59Good night.
20:14I found Knox dead laying in the road.
20:16Yeah?
20:17And no sign of Whiskey Wiley.
20:19Blackie's out of town with Rose.
20:21That dame again, that's all he thinks about.
20:23Another thing, I came by the post and found Bonita putting up a stranger for the night.
20:26Calls himself McKenzie.
20:28I tried to take him, but he's tricky and he's fast.
20:31But he won't get off so lucky the next time I meet up with him.
20:34Well, I guess I'll have to go.
20:36I'll see you later.
20:37Good night.
20:38Good night.
20:39Good night.
20:40But he won't get off so lucky the next time I meet up with him.
20:43Bonita says he's buying the place and ordered me off.
20:45Where's Joe?
20:46He rode over to Triple X.
20:48Where's your boys?
20:49Waiting for me up in Box Canyon.
20:51Now, we've got to work fast.
20:52Round up the rest of that cattle and get them across.
20:54McGee will be waiting for you.
20:56See Joe in the morning.
20:57Now, you know what to say.
20:58Then meet me up here alone.
21:00I got you.
21:08McKenzie.
21:10Let me show you this.
21:11Sure.
21:18That was a mighty fine breakfast.
21:19Gracias, señor.
21:20Well, by the way, who was the George Bane out there
21:22on the sign post?
21:23Lil' Boss.
21:24A big brother.
21:25He's died.
21:26I'm sorry to hear that.
21:31Mama D, your son cooks.
21:34Gracias, señor.
21:35Muy buen hombre.
21:40a nice breakfast. Mama D.
21:42Goes with the folks to Mr McKenzie well that's an added inducement. You've got
21:48a lot of nice pottery here. A lot of that this is
21:52a piece of Indian work it is but then you didn't make it was made by
21:56a white man a white man you mean a squaw man you know he lives alone in
22:02an old hole down near the mouth of the box can he's called tough harsh but he's
22:06more peculiar than tough. He doesn't like people he doesn't talk to them very
22:12much he learned to make pottery from the Navajos and he's pretty busy.
22:17Sounds kind of interesting I think I'll ride over and have a look at it.
22:27Coming in
22:27a wagon. My
22:36wagon man and help him.
22:43Look like my wagon but not my helper.
22:45The man
22:55you're the boss of this outfit where's my driver what happened to him I'm sorry ma'am
23:01you'll have to speak to my blogger where's my driver what happened to him he's in
23:06the back of the wagon he's dead shot clean through the heart. No I'm not getting
23:12a look. Then you. Know I
23:20found him about half way out of Mesa City about sun up look like he might have
23:25been dead quite
23:26a spell maybe it happened yesterday. I don't know ma'am.
23:33Who are you a stranger. Again but who are you that's allowed.
23:40You know my name is Hopkins Sandy I just come up from Texas I was running
23:46a freight out with
23:47a mole much grief attached to it made up my mind to sell it come up here and try
23:52and get
23:52a job. When
24:01blazes were you last night I said the triple X. Why what happened when a wrestler
24:06cut our new fence and run off the whole bunch somebody must have spotted us when
24:09we moved them in there. I'm sorry Joe but we ain't got enough writers to be every
24:14place something else you ought to know got me puzzled. When I dropped by the post
24:19early last night but neither was putting up
24:21a stranger a stranger yeah I got suspicious and was going to turn him into the
24:26ranchers for questioning but we need to stop me. He's
24:30a kind of
24:31a handsome guy I guess he's pulling the wool over her eyes funny anyhow she run me
24:35off told me to mind my own business.
24:43You know me if you'd be looking for
24:45a driver now I'd like to apply for the job. It looks like he's honest he brought
24:51your wagon in with all the store good. What you say if you want the job I guess you
24:57can have it you don't say well thank you. You can
25:04unload the stuff and bring it inside but you can unload the stuff and bring it
25:08inside I guess then right away I'll give him
25:11a hand.
25:20Like we're doing all right up to now so far so good.
25:27I. Check with me tonight when I get back.
25:45She inside. Put it down anywhere Mr McKenzie.
25:57Who are you. That's come again but I'm
26:02a little hard to hear who are you oh I'm Sandy Hopkins the new driver for this
26:08outfit. How often do you have to get your supplies all about once every month
26:14so where do you deliver your product to make the city the same place I pick up my
26:18supply.
26:19When I see. You know you're the stranger put up here last night
26:27yes get them up you're going to do some explaining who you are where you're from
26:33and what are you doing in this part of the country you're coming along with me
26:36stranger sure I'll go with you if that's what you want I'm sorry to cause you so
26:41much trouble Miss Bain. You better take care of this before somebody
26:48gets hurt. No way I want to visit the man who makes Potter for this girl so keep
26:55your eyes open and meet me like I said.
27:12I understand all that you know but I just can't believe that Mr McKenzie had
27:16anything to do with that ruffling last night how do you know we didn't slip out
27:19of the barn last night when you were asleep I didn't go to sleep until late and
27:22besides Mr McKenzie came here to buy this place to buy the place very funny what
27:29did you hear about it being for sale in the city through whiskey. You said whiskey
27:35was killed in his way here. Don't you see honey you can't take chances with
27:39strangers at all these days when wrestlers are operating like this low down
27:43bunch they just don't stop at rustling. I'm so mixed up worried I wish you
27:50wouldn't take so many chances Joe I don't trust the steam even if you do I'll get
27:54that out of your pretty head if that stranger shows around here again on the death
27:59line after me.
28:43As
28:52a stranger coming this way get back and lay low.
28:55How do you.
29:10Are you Mr harsh Yes I'm harsh since you know my name. I reckon you know I don't
29:16like folks especially strangers coming around my place. My name is Jack McKenzie.
29:22I'm stopping at the trading post for
29:25a few days. Miss Bane showed me some of your pottery. Mighty good stuff.
29:33Maybe Miss Bane forgot to tell you the secret about making this pottery and I don't
29:37want anybody to know I don't aim to go into the pottery business Mr harsh your
29:42secret is safe. But I am planning on buying the trading post. I'll be handling some
29:49of this pottery for you that is if Miss Bane and I can get together.
29:53There ain't going to be no more pottery. Because I'm closing up. Sorry to hear
30:00that. I'll be seeing you.
30:23But.
30:23Something
30:49is. Which he died all right a little deaf fellow just brought him in his wagon into
30:54the polls I don't see why black he didn't take care of him in his territory now we
30:59got
30:59a deaf guy to worry about the stranger called himself McKenzie I don't like not
31:04being killed and not known who killed. We got to work fast get
31:11the rest of the circle take over the McGee the night bring back what stuff he's got
31:14with you.
31:19I'll take care of things from now on. I've got
31:24a new idea how I'll handle it. Sounds all right but where do I come
31:30home. You're in. I'm going to tell you all right.
31:42Well where I met him. Where do you want me to put this stuff.
31:49All. Of law. Who stayed there as
31:55fun you'll see. All right and where do I put this stuff.
32:01And that's fine. I'm going to pick you up. No
32:07fooling. Me but not meant the end of the film. Take the wagon over there.
32:14Take the wagon over there and unload the stuff in the storehouse and when you're
32:18through I want you to go see Mr harsh I'll give you
32:21a note explaining that you're the new man working for me. Tell them that you'll be
32:25up there tomorrow morning with
32:26a wagon to pick up the pottery from a city. Tell me how do I find
32:32the place you can't miss it you take the first wagon trail off of the main road it
32:36leads right down to harshest whole game all right I think I can find it all right.
32:49Yeah.
33:00Miss Bonita stranger he come.
33:12I'm going to get to that you'll have to leave here I'm your friend I'd like to speak
33:17to you or not now you must go to tell several the ranchers that you know something
33:21about this rustling going on around here and don't think so too. That's right and
33:26if I do know something about the rustling. But I don't want to cause you any more
33:30trouble so I'm pulling out the night. Thanks for everything.
33:47You get
33:56Stephen tell him I want this fellow Mackenzie out of this territory by tomorrow I
34:00don't care how he does it. And you haven't showed it back with you.
34:17All.
34:43Good morning what do you want.
34:45I didn't hear that I said, what do you want? Oh, is your name a harsh?
34:52Who are you? What'd you say? Yes, I'm harsh. Oh, well, I'm Sandy Hopkins. Miss Bonita's
35:00New driver who sent you that note
35:04Miss Bonita said for you to have that pottery order for Mesa City
35:09Ready, and I'd pick it up the first thing tomorrow morning
35:13Tell miss Bonita, I'll have them ready. I couldn't quite get that. I said tell miss Bonita. I'll have them ready. Yes, sir
35:19I'll tell it exactly what you said. Mr. What'd you say? Your name was harsh
35:24harsh
35:26I'll see you again. Mr. Harsh. Good morning
35:42Oh
35:54He's deep, huh, maybe
35:58Now on there's gonna be no lips
36:02When he comes in the morning, I'll soon find out if he's deaf now you get the steam like I told you
36:13Oh
36:33They're pretty smart sandy, yeah
36:35Yeah
36:36So far, we're doing all right
36:38How are we gonna tie these loose ends together? We're gonna take some long chances tonight stand in times against us
36:54There it is sandy clean his day
36:57Red get those trays out of the wash. The boss don't want to one of them left
37:00I'll tell you a lot from follow the hurdle we get to the left. I'll get it done

38:56Get it. I mean God sit down, please
39:08Joe it only had listened to me. Well, it could be worse and it could have happened sooner
39:15But Marvin, do you know what to do? And with your help? I'm sure he'll pull through. All right
39:20so confused
39:22You're not as deaf as you wanted me to believe no
39:25Just another cover-up for United States Marshal. It moves into this territory and we're not through yet
39:31There's still plenty of work for the deaf man. And what about mr. McKenzie another United States Marshal who's taking chances?
39:39Tall chances this very minute
39:42Hope nothing's happened to him. So do I I
39:45Think I'll go outside and take a look around
