Broken Tablets

Children from Barangay 753 Singalong, Manila show their worn out and defective tablets, most of which have broken LCDs on July 10, 2021. The gadgets were issued to the children last school year. A number of parents and their children are worried over the cost of repairing the tablets, after they were told by public school officials that it was a requirement for re-enrollment for School Year 2021-2022 to return the equipment in good condition. The Manila City government provided about 110,000 tablets with SIM cards for public school students last year and has acquired an initial 60,080 tablets for new enrollees. A P60-million fund is reserved if there is an increase in new students.
