00:00Good morning. This is our latest update on the Tropical Storm Christine
00:04which has an international name, Trami.
00:06Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No. 12 released the forecast at 11 o'clock in the morning.
00:12So here in the latest satellite image animation, we can see
00:16that the center of the Tropical Storm Christine is still offshore or at sea.
00:20But its thick cloud, since yesterday,
00:24is affecting many parts of Luzon,
00:27some parts of Visayas and Mindanao.
00:30Earlier this morning, the center of the Tropical Storm Christine
00:33is estimated to be at a distance of 255 kilometers
00:36off the coast of Valer, Aurora.
00:38This typhoon brought strong winds
00:40that reached up to 85 kilometers per hour,
00:43which is close to its center.
00:44The tornado reached up to 105 kilometers per hour.
00:48Right now, it is moving in the direction of north-northwest
00:51at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.
00:53Because of the current situation, location and strength of the typhoon Christine,
00:58Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 is high
01:01in the areas highlighted in yellow on our map.
01:04The areas of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan,
01:09Apayao, Abra, Calinga, Mountain Province,
01:12Ipugao, Benguet, Kagayan, along with Babuyan Island,
01:16Isabela, Quirinon, Nueva Vizcaya, and Aurora.
01:19Also in Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga,
01:25Sambales, Bataan.
01:26And here in Metro Manila, warning signal No. 2 is also high.
01:29Also in Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon,
01:33along with Pulilo Island, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur,
01:37Catanduanes, Albay, and here in the northeastern portion of Sorsogon.
01:42So the areas with warning signal No. 2
01:44will continue to experience harsh weather.
01:47When we say harsh weather,
01:50it can still lead to floods,
01:52especially in low-lying areas.
01:55Floods in communities near rivers
01:58where water levels may rise due to continuous rain.
02:02Landslides in areas near the foot of mountains,
02:06especially if it rains for several days in their area.
02:09Meanwhile, wind signal No. 1
02:11is high in areas highlighted in light blue
02:14in Batanes, Batangas,
02:18Occidental Mindoro along with Lubang Island, Oriental Mindoro,
02:21Marinduque, Sarumblon, Calamian Island,
02:24the remaining part of Sorsogon,
02:26Samasbate along with Tikau and Burias Island.
02:29Warning signal No. 1 also in Bisayas area,
02:32Aklan, Capiz, Antique along with Caluya Island, Iloilo, Guimaras.
02:37Here in the northern portion of Negros Occidental
02:40and northern portion of Negros Oriental.
02:43Northern and central portion of Cebu
02:44along with Bantayan Island and Camotes Island.
02:47In Bohol, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar,
02:51Samar, Leyte, Biliran and Southern Leyte.
02:54Warning signal No. 1 also in Mindanao area,
02:57particularly in Dinagat Island,
02:59Surigao Del Norte along with Siargao and Bucas Grande Group.
03:03In areas with warning signal No. 1,
03:05it will continue to rain and wind.
03:09And as we mentioned earlier,
03:10in areas with warning signal No. 2,
03:12there are still signs of floods and landslides.
03:16While the wind can destroy different structures,
03:19houses made of materials,
03:22some types of buildings can collapse,
03:25power poles can also collapse.
03:27So to our countrymen,
03:29here in areas with warning signals No. 2 and 1,
03:33we have been giving news for a few days,
03:35I hope that in these hours,
03:37they can pack their supplies for the next two days
03:41and continue to inform their local government
03:43and local DRO officials
03:45about the disaster preparedness and mitigation measures.
03:49And as much as possible,
03:50today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow,
03:53only stay inside your homes
03:55if there is nothing important to do,
03:57if we can avoid going outside
03:59to avoid the dangers of the upcoming flood, Sea Christine.
04:04Now, what are we hoping to do
04:06in this so-called flood?
04:08When will there be a landfall?
04:10So this is the current location of Sea Christine.
04:13It's still offshore or central.
04:15It's still in the ocean.
04:16But we showed earlier,
04:18the magnitude of this,
04:20it covers the entire Luzon,
04:21many parts of Visayas,
04:22and some parts of Mindanao.
04:24We are hoping that possibly later tonight,
04:26it will be upgraded or it will be even stronger,
04:30possibly severe tropical storm category
04:33before there is a landfall here in the Isabela area.
04:36But let's repeat,
04:38the area probability shows
04:41that there are still possible scenarios
04:43that we will not rule out,
04:45that somewhere over the Cagayan
04:48or possibly the northern part of Aurora,
04:52there could be a landfall of a storm,
04:53the center of a storm.
04:55So this area of Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora
04:57should be prepared for a possible landfall scenario.
05:00And the places that we mentioned
05:03that have warning signals number 2 and 1
05:05should be ready at this time
05:07for the upcoming storm.
05:10We are hoping that from later tonight
05:13until tomorrow morning,
05:15the center of the storm, Cristin,
05:17will pass through the northern Luzon area.
05:20And even though the center will pass through the northern Luzon area,
05:23we are hoping that there are still chances
05:25that in some parts,
05:27some provinces,
05:28central and southern Luzon,
05:29and some parts of Visayas,
05:31that the storm will still affect.
05:33Not only the three provinces that I mentioned earlier
05:35should be prepared for a possible landfall,
05:38but I will repeat,
05:39all places that have warning signals.
05:42And then we will look at the forecast track,
05:44possibly on the upcoming Friday,
05:46this is almost on the northwestern boundary
05:49of our air responsibility,
05:51Friday morning.
05:53And possible,
05:54Friday afternoon until night,
05:56this will continue to come out of our air responsibility.
05:59But because the storm is so wide,
06:01even if it comes out of our air responsibility on Friday,
06:04we still have a possible warning signal
06:06here in the western section of the northern and central Luzon.
06:09That is why our countrymen should watch out
06:11for our three-hourly update
06:13on the storm, Cristin,
06:15because we are hoping that a possible landfall
06:17and that this storm will pass through.
06:19Now, on Saturday morning,
06:22this will continue to move away from the boundary of our air responsibility.
06:26And even though we are hoping that this could develop
06:28into a type 1 category storm,
06:30we are hoping that this will continue to move
06:32to either the southern part of China
06:35or towards the Vietnam area.
06:38So our forecast track
06:40that remains,
06:41during the day,
06:42is almost the same scenario,
06:44but I repeat,
06:45every three hours we will give an update.
06:47If there will be a change in movement,
06:49intensity,
06:50possibly there will also be a change in the warning signal
06:53and what we are hoping for,
06:54rain and strong winds,
06:55in the places I will mention
06:57in the next slides of this presentation.
