'No excuses': Govt tightens law on phones behind the wheel

Virtually all hand-held use of a mobile phone whilst driving is set to become illegal in a new 'no excuses' approach, according to Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.

The legislation will close a loophole that meant drivers were only penalised for making calls or sending texts, allowing them to escape punishment if they used their device to take photos or scroll through music.
