William Branham and the Sin of Game Hunting

In later versions of William Branham’s stage persona, William Branham spoke strongly against hunting for sport. Branham considered himself to be a great hunter, and by extension, many male members of his cult of personality aspire to be hunters. Following the later versions of Branham’s doctrine, hunters in Branham’s sect do not kill only for sport; animals killed must be eaten. This is due to Branham’s later doctrines, which labeled sport hunting as a “sin”. Branham harshly condemned men who hunted for sport.

William Branham’s person, however, did not match the later versions of the stage persona. He hunted for sport, and had several trophies in his home, offices, and more. In fact, earlier versions of his stage persona admitted that he did not hunt for the meat — he said that he ONLY hunted for sport.

Though William Branham harshly rebuked people like Arthur Godfrey for sport hunting in Africa, he himself did so multiple times. There are photographs of William Branham hunting several animals that he never intended to eat. Trophies for the trophy hunter, who condemned the other trophy hunters.
