"“Even though I wasn’t out to a lot of people, like, there’s something about putting everything into art and then performing it; I just felt safe doing it.”
Twenty-four-year-old queer pop artist Jake Wesley Rogers is a name you’re going to want to remember. From his pop melodies that tell meaningful LGBTQ+ stories to his glamorous stage costumes that have caught the attention of Sir Elton John himself, Rogers is definitely on his way up in the industry. After coming out as gay in Kansas City, Missouri, Rogers found a way to live his truth through his music. He recently released his label debut EP “Pluto,” performed on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” and will tour with Ben Platt on his Reverie Tour in 2022. Gayety caught up with Rogers about meeting Elton John, performing live shows again, and why music is his favorite form of escape."
