00:00 Next to Sudan, where new clashes broke out last night and again this Thursday, puncturing
00:05 the calm of a week-long ceasefire.
00:07 That internationally negotiated truce is meant to stop the fighting between the Sudanese
00:11 army and a rebel paramilitary force.
00:14 The capital Khartoum has seen five weeks of warfare, with outbursts of violence in other
00:18 parts of Sudan.
00:20 The fighting causing a humanitarian crisis that's forced over 1.3 million people to flee
00:24 their homes.
00:26 Regional correspondent Bastien Renouilh reports.
00:28 The fighting continued yesterday and overnight.
00:31 In several areas of the capital, residents were not reporting any clashes.
00:35 But in many others, my contacts told me that they could still hear gunshots, explosions.
00:40 They even saw a fighter jet crashing in the city of Omdurman.
00:43 It's a Khartoum twin city located on the other bank of the Nile.
00:46 So even if the fighting is less intense than during the previous five weeks, the war continues
00:53 despite this ceasefire.
00:56 That's for the capital.
00:57 Let's also mention the situation in North Kordofan.
00:59 The city of El Obeid is still surrounded by the rapid support forces.
01:03 Clashes broke out yesterday.
01:04 At least 20 civilians were injured and many were killed.
01:08 And let's also speak about the situation in Darfur.
01:11 It's still very difficult to know what exactly is happening on the ground because many telecommunication
01:16 infrastructures have been destroyed by the clashes.
01:19 So it's impossible to reach civilians on the ground.
01:21 But it seems that the fighting continues in the city of Nyala, the capital of eastern
01:26 Darfur and in many other areas in the region.
01:29 So you understand that this is a so-called ceasefire, but it's not working.
01:33 It's not implemented.
01:34 And the war continues in Sudan at the moment.
