Gagliardi (Deloitte Legal). “ChatGPT se governato bene, ci renderà avvocati migliori”

  • last year

00:00 The last news, the last one, we know that the last one is yesterday's news,
00:04 in the sense that the news are so fast, they are now so short,
00:07 is that CHACCPT passed the lawyer exam in America.
00:10 And this, if you want, it passed it with not very high grades, but it passed it.
00:16 So it means that the machine has answered the same questions
00:19 to which people, human beings, answer to become lawyers.
00:23 Now, does this mean that CHACCPT will make the lawyer in the place of men?
00:27 No, not now, certainly, so much so that the news, again,
00:31 another news that arrived in the papers, I think yesterday,
00:33 was that a New York lawyer showed up in the classroom
00:36 filing an act written with CHACCPT and CHACCPT had clearly invented the previous ones.
00:41 So it is clear that the machine must be checked,
00:44 it can be an aid to the activity of the lawyer and not only of the lawyer,
00:49 but today it cannot be thought of as a substitutive activity.
00:52 My hope is that this never happens, in the sense that if the man,
00:56 if the lawyer is able to lead this process of innovation,
01:00 this will be a tool to support the evolution of the lawyer.
01:03 As Richard Sarskine told us today,
01:04 CHACCPT is not the end, it is the beginning of this type of evolution.
01:08 And as always happens in technology,
01:10 we unfortunately tend to overestimate the effects of technology in the short term,
01:15 but we tend to underestimate them in the long term.
01:18 And so the impact of CHACCPT in the long term,
01:21 but perhaps even in the medium term, and we are talking about the next 5-8 years,
01:24 I think it will be really significant.
01:26 The provocation we make is that we must try to put together
01:29 what is the capacity of man with what is the capacity of the machine,
01:33 and that the sum of human capacity and the computational capacity of the machine
01:38 is actually more than the capacity of man alone that we had before.
