00:00 Hi, welcome back to another episode of Bake and Make. I'm Angela Kopecky. Today I'm going
00:06 to be showing you how to make this Xbox 360 Cake. First we're going to start off by making
00:12 the headphones. You need to take some black fondant and mix some seam seal tylos through
00:17 the black fondant. This will just help harden the fondant up. So we'll just roll it up in
00:23 a ball and then we're going to roll it out into a long piece. Smooth it down with a ruler
00:34 and then I'm using a ruler here with a smoother just to straighten it up. Take a sharp knife
00:40 and we're just going to cut that down. Turn that on its side and we're going to make the
00:51 shape of the top part of the headphones there. Roll out some black fondant. I'm going to
01:08 be using a 6cm cutter here. This is going to be for the earpiece of the headphones.
01:15 Cut out two round circles. Place them there on the board. I'm going to take a sharp knife
01:23 and we're just going to cut that edge, the side off there on both of them. Then take
01:34 a ruler and we're going to make three lines in the center there. Same with the other one.
01:49 Take a small piece of black fondant and roll this out. This is going to be the microphone
01:54 part for the headset. So just roll that out. I'm using a ruler. We'll just take the knife
02:00 and we're going to cut that down to fit that section there. So just measure it up there
02:07 and then we can gauge from there on to how much we need to cut. Roll out a small ball
02:14 and stick it to the end there. Roll out another long piece of fondant and this is going to
02:23 be for the back part of the headphones there. So we're just going to measure how much we
02:33 need for that section. We'll just cut it off there and we'll measure it. We're going to
02:39 cut two pieces the same size. Take some sugar glue or water and just place a small amount
02:48 around the edges there. We'll take one piece and we're going to work our way up from the
02:56 top all the way around right up to the front there. If you have some excess there, just
03:05 cut it off. Now what we're going to do here is we're going to stick those pieces to the
03:15 top part of the headset. So we're going to take some sugar glue and we're just going
03:21 to stick it there. What I've done is I've used some Glad Wrap to lift the top part of
03:27 the headset up so we can let this whole piece to dry together. What you need to do now is
03:35 trace out a template of the controller. If you don't have a controller, you can find
03:39 a template on the internet and then just cut it out. What I've done here is I've got some
03:46 black fondant and I'm just going to shape it around until we get that shape of the controller.
03:54 Here we go, we have the controller there. I've cut out the small buttons that we need
04:02 for the controller. You'll need three small black round circles. They're approximately
04:08 2.5cm. You need a grey piece, a green piece and the four little pieces there which is
04:15 a red, blue, yellow and green. We'll just take some sugar glue or water again and we'll
04:21 just stick those buttons on there. We'll start with the grey one and then the second one
04:29 is going to be that black piece there. I've just made an indent with a knife on that one.
04:38 For that piece there I've used a skewer to make four holes in there. That will go on
04:46 the top left hand side. Same with this piece, I've made four holes in it and that can go
04:52 on that bottom section there. We'll take the small pieces there and I'm going to place
05:00 the red one on that side there. Same with the other colors as well. With the green piece
05:22 you need to roll this out into a small string. We're just going to cut that down and that's
05:31 going to go over that grey piece there. Just overlap it and cut out another one and then
05:37 overlap it over the top there. For the cake, you need to bake two 10" square cakes. They're
05:48 approximately 3cm each in height. You need to make a template either by tracing one out
05:56 from an actual xbox or printing one off the internet. What I've done here is I've filled
06:02 the layer in the center there with some ganache. I've cut out the template from a cardboard
06:09 board and I've just placed it on the top using some ganache to stick it to the cake. We're
06:16 going to take a sharp knife and we're just going to cut out the template there on both
06:22 sides. Make sure you keep your knife straight, that way you get a straight even cut. We'll
06:33 just remove the excess cake there. What we're going to do now is we're going to turn it
06:43 around. Just place your hands and then just flip it over and remove that board there.
06:51 Just move it over onto our work board there. Now what we're going to do is we're going
06:56 to sculpt the curved shape there at the front. Just work your way slowly from the outside
07:05 in and then just shave it off until you get that curved edge there. We'll do the same
07:14 with the back part as well. Do this all the way until you get the right curved shape.
07:22 I'm going to use some chocolate ganache today. You can use some buttercream. We're just going
07:28 to start spreading it from the side there. We're going to work our way all the way around,
07:38 as you can see there. We'll just work our way around the cake on the top as well and
07:47 just spread it out evenly. It doesn't look too fabulous at the moment, but it will look
07:55 great once we're finished with it. We've got a scraper here. This is what we're going to
08:01 use to make the cake with an even finish. We'll just scrape that around. Just using
08:09 a knife, just remove the excess off the scraper there. We'll do the same with the top part
08:16 as well. Just working your way around from the edge and pull it back. Remove the excess.
08:28 Do the same with the curved sections there as well. As you can see, we're starting to
08:43 get that shape there. Now you need to get some black fondant and sprinkle out some icing
08:55 sugar or cornflour. This is going to be the fondant we're going to use to cover the cake
09:01 with. Just roll it out. We'll take our cake. I've brushed the cake with some hot water.
09:12 Lift up that fondant gently and we'll place it over the top of the cake. Making sure our
09:19 hands are clean, we're going to secure the edges there. This just makes sure that we
09:25 don't have any tears on the corner there. Just use the side of your hands to even out
09:34 that fondant there. Smooth it all the way around and work your way all the way down
09:47 to the bottom there. Take a sharp knife and just cut that excess fondant off all the way
10:02 around and remove the excess there. I'm using a smoother and we're going to smooth out the
10:15 fondant all the way around on each side. You need to take a little wheel tool here. I've
10:25 got a ruler as well. What we're going to do is we're going to make the line that goes
10:29 across there on an angle. We'll take the ruler and we're going to start at the front there
10:37 and position it on an angle. We're just going to push it down firmly, not too firm because
10:46 it will crack. Just enough to make that line there. Take our little wheel tool and we're
10:57 going to make that small curved section there. If you don't have one of these, you can just
11:03 use the ruler. We'll take the ruler and we'll make the line there from the bottom. We'll
11:11 do the same with the sides there as well. Starting from the center, we'll just push
11:17 that down and on the other side as well. Now we're going to roll out two black pieces of
11:25 fondant. I've just placed some sugar glue there on the corner. We're going to stick
11:31 this piece on. Starting from the front, just carefully work your way to the middle there
11:37 and all the way down to the back. Just take a knife and cut that excess off and do the
11:52 same with the other side. What I've done here is I've printed off two edible images, one
12:01 for the button and one for the disc part there. If you don't have an edible image printer,
12:08 you can take your artwork to any cake shop and they'll have that printed off for you.
12:14 I've covered a 15" board in white fondant and I've placed a ribbon around the board.
12:19 What we're going to do now is we're going to move that cake onto our presentation board
12:25 here. I've got some royal icing which I'm going to use. We're just going to place a
12:30 bit to the back there. We're just going to spread that out with a knife. We'll take a
12:43 knife and we're going to place it underneath the cake. We'll lift that cake up and place
12:48 it on the board there. What I've done here is I've made two game covers. I've just rolled
12:59 out some fondant and I've cut it down. Again, I've printed off two images there. Again,
13:06 you can have these done, get them printed at any cake shop. What we're going to do now
13:20 is we're going to stick the games onto the cake there. Just place some sugar glue or
13:26 water underneath the game there and position it however you like on top. We'll do the same
13:32 with the other one as well. Now we're going to take our headphones from before. They're
13:38 all nice and dry now. We'll just place our sugar glue on the corners there and we'll
13:44 just position it at the front of the cake. That's our small microphone piece from before.
13:53 We'll place that there on the board. I've made a little disc there with an edible image.
14:00 Again, we'll stick that with some sugar glue. We'll do the same with the controller. Place
14:07 some sugar glue under there and we'll stick it on the game there. There we go. It's all
14:15 done, our Xbox 360 cake. As you can see by the video, it's quite a detailed cake to make.
14:22 But once you have all the little fine details made like the headset and the controller and
14:29 the little games there, it comes together quite easily. If you allow those pieces to
14:34 dry overnight, they're much easier to handle. Thanks for watching the video and I look forward
14:42 to showing you another video shortly. Please feel free to subscribe to my channel as I
