00:00 Hello and welcome to Cupcake Addiction's Rainbow Cakepop Ball Tutorial where I'll be showing
00:09 you how to make this fun, bright and very effective Rainbow Cakepop Ball.
00:16 Rainbow layer cake and rainbow cupcakes are all the rage at the moment. So for me, that
00:20 equates to rainbow cakepops. Everything seems to be getting turned into cakepops these days.
00:25 And I thought, "Why not a rainbow cakepop ball?" I've made a batch of our basic cakepop
00:32 mix. The recipe and tutorial that I do have online on our channel is a chocolate mix.
00:37 I've simply translated those exact measurements into a vanilla mix. So I've used vanilla cakes,
00:42 vanilla buttercream. And then I've taken that vanilla mix, vanilla cakepop mix, and I've
00:47 spread it into 5 separate containers. I've used a little bit of food coloring in 5 different
00:52 colors that I like just to color that up to make 5 different pots of 5 different colors
00:58 of cakepop ball mix. So let's get started.
01:04 What I'm going to do, I've actually prepared some balls earlier because there is quite
01:08 a lot of freezing in this tutorial. It's quite a long tutorial so I will try to get through
01:12 it as quickly as I can. We're going to start by rolling a small marble-sized ball of the
01:19 darkest color that you have. So for me, that's blue. Just going to pull up a little bit of
01:24 the cakepop mix, roll it between my hands to make a lovely little marble. Now I'm going
01:29 to let that sit in the freezer for about 5 minutes until it's hard. This one here that
01:36 I've got is already frozen. So to add to that, I'm going to take a slightly bigger amount
01:42 of the next color. I'm going to go with green and I'm going to roll it into a ball. Then
01:47 I'm going to flatten it out in the palm of my hand. Take my frozen dark blue marble-sized
01:54 piece and you can see there, I'm just folding it over to cover that blue. And then I'm going
02:02 to roll it into another ball. That is now going to get placed into the freezer for another
02:07 5 minutes before we move on to our next color. Here I have my green ball that's been frozen
02:13 for 5 minutes. So we're going to do the same again with our next color. I'm going to go
02:17 with yellow. We're going to take just a little bit more. It's quite messy, this job so be
02:24 prepared to get dirty. So I take my yellow mix and I take my frozen green ball and I'm
02:31 just going to do the same again. So I'm just going to pat that all the way around. Don't
02:37 worry if some of the underneath color does show through. You're not going to notice that
02:41 the end result is a cakepop ball. So there's our yellow coat. Don't be tempted to put too
02:49 much of any color on because you don't want these cakepop balls to get out of control
02:53 big. You want to try and keep them about the same size as a normal cakepop ball. So I'm
02:58 taking my frozen yellow ball and I'm taking some of my orange. We'll be getting a little
03:04 bit more of the mix now just because we're getting a bigger ball that we've got to cover.
03:08 So once again, we roll that orange ball, flatten it out, take our frozen yellow and over goes
03:16 that orange, pressing it around, all the way around, covering as much of that yellow as
03:26 we can and then rolling it into a lovely round ball.
03:32 Alright, the last color that I'm going to go with is going to be the red. So I'm going
03:38 to take my frozen orange ball. You can see why I prepared these balls earlier. We'd be
03:43 waiting all night for the freezer to freeze them for 5 minutes in between. So I'm going
03:48 to take some of that red, roll the ball, flatten it out again, take my frozen orange ball and
03:57 cover it over. These are probably the longest cakepop balls that you can make, the ones
04:02 that take the longest but they are certainly the most effective. They're sure to get a
04:08 shock of awe when somebody bites into them and realizes what's inside.
04:13 Alright, so there I have my rainbow cakepop ball. I'm going to take one of my lollipop
04:20 sticks and I'm going to take some melted white chocolate or some white candy melts depending
04:25 on where you are. Now I've taken about 300 grams of that white chocolate or white candy
04:30 melts and I've added about 25 grams of cofa or Crisco, vegetable shortening to that, just
04:37 to stop it from cracking up so easily when people bite into it. It will give it a bit
04:41 of a softer crunch and it will also stop it from cracking as the cakepop ball comes back
04:46 to room temperature inside because it will be quite cold.
04:50 So I'm going to take that cakepop ball. I should also mention that I did allow all of
04:54 those balls to sit in the freezer. But my red ball, I've popped it in the fridge. Then
04:59 I've brought the finished ball out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature
05:02 for 5 minutes just so that it's not quite as cold.
05:06 Now I'm going to use the flat bottom of the cakepop and I'm going to take my lollipop
05:12 stick. I'm just going to insert that into the flat bottom of the cakepop and that's
05:18 going to go into the fridge now for another 5 minutes just to let that chocolate set and
05:22 harden. Okay, so it's been 5 minutes and I'm convinced
05:27 that my cakepop ball is set and my little chocolate seal there has been set. So I'm
05:34 going to dip the cakepop. As per all my other cakepop demonstrations, basically I've got
05:39 my chocolate mixture. I've put it in a nice deep container so that I can get my ball right
05:44 to the bottom of it. So I'm just going to dunk the ball, make sure that I meet the chocolate
05:52 up with that lovely seal so that it meets all the way up with the stick. Beautiful!
05:58 So there we have our lovely rainbow cakepop. Once that's bitten into, that's what your
06:06 guests are going to see. Lovely! Thanks very much for watching. We hope you've
06:10 enjoyed this tutorial. Please do remember to subscribe to our channel if you're enjoying
