The Tour de France 2023 will hold its Grand Départ in the Basque Country, with a first stage in Bilbao on 1st July, and will finish in Paris on 23rd July, on completion of a 3,404-km route that will tackle the difficult slopes of the country’s five mountain ranges. The battle for the Yellow Jersey will witness a decisive and emotional episode on the Puy de Dôme, where a stage finish will be held 35 years after the victory of Denmark’s Johnny Weltz. The return to this legendary climb will be accompanied by the rise in importance of sites that will mark the Tours of the future, such as the Grand Colombier or the Col de la Loze. The sole time-trial on the Tour de France in 2023 will take place over 22 kilometres between Passy and the Combloux ski resort in Haute-Savoie. The sprinters will also have the opportunity to express themselves on finishes in Bordeaux, Limoges, Moulins, before the grand finale on the Champs-Elysées.

00:52 >> Felix Gall, when you woke up this morning,
00:56 you looked out your window, you saw the mountains.
00:58 Did you think that you were going
01:00 to win the Queen's Stage of the Tour de France?
01:02 >> No, it's incredible.
01:06 I don't know what to say.
01:10 I mean, this whole year has been incredible.
01:14 And now, yeah, to do so well in the Tour de France
01:18 and to win the Queen's Stage, it's incredible.
01:22 And I just want to say thank you to the team.
01:27 They have given me so much.
01:30 Yeah.
01:32 >> You look completely empty physically and mentally.
01:39 Am I correct?
01:40 >> Yeah. I mean, it's not easy to do a three-week stage race.
01:47 And then also, yeah, I had the role of the leader now
01:53 after a few days, so we slowly focused on that.
01:57 And I was stressing myself a lot about that also.
02:01 And yeah, it's not easy, but the last few days, I have been more
02:07 and more comfortable, and yeah.
02:10 And now I was just afraid that I would be caught
02:16 on the last -- just the last kilometer, so the last descent.
02:20 And yeah, it's incredible.
02:23 >> It's a classical question, but what is going
02:26 through your mind, or what went through your mind
02:28 when you crossed that line?
02:30 >> Not much.
02:32 I'm just grateful for all this.
02:36 >> When did you decide to attack?
02:39 >> Well, I was feeling really great,
02:43 and actually I was feeling great all day.
02:46 And yeah, I didn't think that --
02:50 or thought that the chance would have --
02:52 the break would have a big chance to go for the victory.
02:54 But I mean, the stage was so hard,
02:58 and I felt good at the start.
02:59 And so I thought, yeah, why not be in there to have a little bit
03:03 of a gap on the favorites on the final climb to --
03:08 yeah, to anticipate the final.
03:11 And then actually in the final, or before the last climb,
03:15 I was feeling super good.
03:18 And just looking by the numbers, I knew it was a super hard day,
03:23 even though I was feeling good.
03:25 But I knew, yeah, if we do this pace all day, yeah,
03:31 I'm in a good spot to give it a try.
03:34 Not many people -- yeah, and then I just --
03:37 [ Laughter ]
03:39 >> What's up, boy?
03:40 >> Thank you, man.
03:41 >> You're a champion.
03:42 You're a champion.
03:43 Enjoy.
03:44 >> Thank you.
03:44 >> Enjoy.
03:45 >> And then, yeah, Ben did a great job on the last climb.
03:50 And I just won.
03:52 I felt so good at the bottom.
03:53 And I was just waiting for the steep part until it starts
03:57 so I could attack him.
03:59 Then I was feeling not that super good anymore, but I --
04:03 yeah, I wanted to give it a try.
04:05 And I also knew, yeah, looking by the numbers, it --
04:07 yeah, that I'm doing a good pace and also, yeah,
04:11 we're in altitude, so.
04:12 >> You're living a dream.
04:14 This is something that you probably dreamt of, no?
04:16 >> Yeah. I mean, it's not --
04:18 I cannot say it's a childhood dream, but it's definitely --
04:22 yeah, one year ago or one and a half years ago.
04:26 Yeah, I could have never imagined to be
04:30 in this position now.
04:31 >> Enjoy the moment.
04:32 >> Thank you.
04:35 >> Okay. [Foreign language spoken]
04:36 >> Yeah. Felix, you did it.
04:37 Great job.
