00:00 Better late than never, what if we talked about the movies of 2022?
00:02 Hello everyone, it's summer and there's not much interesting in the movies
00:09 So rather than a movie release, I propose you a little recap of the movies of the year 2022
00:13 I took the time to watch a lot of movies from last year that I missed in the movies but that interested me
00:18 And I thought, better late than never, let's talk about it now
00:21 I will therefore come back to the last 10 movies I saw of the year 2022
00:24 To give you my opinion on the movie and see if it can interest you
00:27 The idea is to have a fairly fast format, I will try not to exceed a minute per movie
00:31 I'm not sure I can do it at all but we'll try that
00:34 I ranked the 10 movies from the most disappointing to my favorite movie
00:37 And so we start right away with number 10 which is therefore my biggest disappointment
00:41 Liar
00:45 Jérôme is a compulsive liar until the day his lies become reality
00:49 The comedy is directed by Olivier Barou, the director of the Tuche
00:52 And we find Tarek Bouddhali from the Fifi band in the lead role
00:55 So he is last in the ranking but the film is not bad for so much
00:59 It's entertaining but it's still a hell of a wasted potential
01:03 The gags are not super well exploited and the scenario is based on Russian country and class struggle
01:09 But it's not interesting at all
01:11 The second roles, Louis, Skoldefie and Arthur save the film
01:14 They are given in particular the funniest scenes of the film
01:16 So liar is not the worst comedy of the year
01:19 But this movie is annoying, no one forces on his talent
01:22 The gags are a little lazy, already seen and the scenario is not well exploited
01:26 If there had been more heart, a little more energy in this movie
01:30 We really held a great comedy
01:32 But there we feel that it is minimum service
01:34 So liar is not crazy but it is watched
01:37 And go, we go to the film number 9
01:39 Stay a little of Gad Elmaleh
01:44 The comedian who was raised in a Jewish family
01:47 Tells his attraction for the Catholic religion and especially his love for the Virgin Mary
01:52 He has planned to be baptized but it's not very well lived by his parents
01:56 It's a very personal story for Gad
01:59 And besides his parents and friends play their own role on the screen
02:02 So this movie is the opposite of liar
02:04 Liar was a very convenient movie made with recipes that have already proven their proof
02:08 But that has no soul
02:10 There it's the opposite, Gad invites us in his privacy
02:13 And he will tell us about his relationship to religion in a very sincere way
02:16 The project is therefore super touching and also brave
02:20 A movie that makes the apology of religion and spirituality
02:23 In a comedy in 2022
02:25 It's still not ultra-salesman
02:27 So all these qualities I recognize them perfectly, there is no problem
02:31 But it's just that this movie, this subject they deal with
02:34 Me, he does not speak to me at all
02:36 I do not understand why it poses so many problems to his parents and his entourage who are baptized
02:40 But let him live his life, this poor guy
02:42 I'm really too far from this universe to understand what the movie is about
02:46 After talking about religious conversion, it can be a good metaphor
02:49 To talk about emancipation and to assert oneself as we want to be in people's eyes
02:52 At first I thought that through this story, Gad was also talking about coming out or sex changes
02:57 But at the end of the story, no no, it cuts short to any probability universality of the film
03:01 It's just a movie about religion and you should not extrapolate it too much
03:04 So it's a nice disappointment on my part and is at the bottom of the ranking
03:07 After if the themes of spirituality, religion, faith, personal quests like that interest you
03:13 Go ahead, it's not a movie for me at all, but it's not a bad movie either
03:17 And we go to the film in 8th position
03:19 Again by Cédric Lapiche
03:24 Elise is a great classical dancer
03:26 But she will get hurt during a show and she learns that she may never be able to dance again
03:30 So her life is completely upset and she will have to learn to repair herself
03:34 It annoys me to put this film so low because it has incredible quality
03:37 It is beautiful, the dance scenes are beautiful, it is funny, it is touching
03:41 The characters are great, they are full of charm, they are all super well written
03:45 But I do not agree with the philosophy of the film
03:48 No, the injuries do not heal magically
03:50 No, it's not about playing with people's feelings and manipulating your kidney
03:54 When you see very clearly that he has feelings for you
03:56 No, I do not find it normal for an old millionaire to face the morals of a young woman who asks herself questions
04:01 No, I do not agree with this stupid moral "overcome yourself"
04:04 Stop complaining and show discipline and like that you will be happy
04:08 So this film annoys me a little bit, but a bit like the previous films
04:12 I do not want to question the overall quality of the film
04:14 I know it's a good film, I know it has all the qualities
04:17 But it's just that the themes they deal with are really not for me
04:20 And we now go to the seventh film
04:22 "The Visitor of the Future" by François Descraques
04:27 The film follows the events of the web series "The Visitor of the Future"
04:31 This time, the visitor and his team must try to avoid the nuclear apocalypse
04:35 that could trigger a power plant that has just been built
04:38 What a pleasure to see the series "The Visitor of the Future"
04:41 that we knew when we were younger on YouTube
04:43 Now coming back to the cinema on the big screen like this is great
04:46 And in addition, the film really has all the qualities
04:48 The special effects are crazy when you know the micro budget of the film
04:52 The costumes are great and the atmosphere is really successful
04:55 Where it's lacking unfortunately, it's more on the side of the script
04:58 The story is simplistic to the extreme and the writing of the character is not very good
05:02 The film clearly targets children
05:04 So I don't know if it's a choice that François Descraques made
05:06 or if it's rather something that the producers have imposed
05:09 so that the film works better in the box office
05:11 But in any case, we don't find the salt and the twists of situations
05:14 that could be in the series
05:16 There, it's really super simplistic
05:17 We have bad guys, good guys and then...
05:20 So it's not always easy to find your way as an adult
05:23 Well, to get over the nostalgia of seeing the characters we liked a little younger
05:27 But otherwise, there's not much to get into
05:29 So I was pretty bored behind
05:31 But I don't want to spit on the project
05:33 We feel the investment and the talent that can be behind it
05:36 But it's just that once again, I really feel like I'm not the target
05:39 And go, film number 6
05:41 The stars of Jonathan Barret with the Palma Show duo
05:47 Daniel, a failed singer who now works in a real estate agency
05:51 has debts and dreams of becoming a star
05:53 He decides to use Stéphane, one of his colleagues, a little naive
05:56 to participate in TV games
05:58 The film is nice, the humor lines work well
06:01 and the story manages to surprise us a little
06:03 In fact, there are no big twists of situations
06:05 But until the end, we don't really know in which direction the film wants to go
06:09 And that's interesting
06:11 But I still have a hard time understanding the project
06:13 What made them say "we really need to tell this story"
06:15 What did they want to show
06:17 This film leaves me a little doubtful
06:19 As if I had gone next to the heart, next to the message
06:22 Well, it's nice, it's more in the top of the range of French comedies
06:27 But I don't think it's particularly revealing of all the talent of the Palma Show
06:31 But hey, we're having a good time and I recommend it
06:34 And we did half, number 5
06:36 "Couleur de l'incendie" by Clovis Corniak
06:41 Following the death of his father, Madeleine Perricourt inherits a huge financial empire
06:45 But several of his relatives will try to play with her and manipulate her to take everything from him
06:50 Until the day when the revenge comes
06:53 The story is effective
06:55 The film is well-made
06:57 And we want to know how the characters will do
06:59 The staging is impeccable
07:01 And the sets are impressive
07:03 So it's a good film, it's entertaining, it's well done
07:06 But there's nothing transcendent
07:08 The script quickly reaches its limits
07:10 And once the film is over, we forget it pretty quickly
07:13 It's much less memorable than its big brother "Au revoir la haute" by Dupontel
07:16 Which was much more memorable
07:18 Which probably divides a lot more
07:20 But which we also remember a lot more
07:22 So it's a good film, a good effective entertainment
07:24 But which is still very schoolish
07:26 And which is never really surprising, whether in the story or in the production
07:29 And that's it, we move on to the fourth film
07:31 "L'innocent" by Louis Garel
07:35 We follow the fate of Abel, who will completely panic
07:38 When he learns that his mother is about to marry a man who just got out of prison
07:42 He will do everything to try to sabotage their union
07:45 But he will follow a lot of crazy adventures
07:47 The atmosphere of this film is super nice
07:49 The characters are well written
07:51 The humor works to the fullest
07:53 It's original and it has a lot of personality
07:55 There wasn't much missing to make it a little masterpiece
07:58 Unfortunately, it's not perfectly written or realized
08:02 The film has a bit of a rock'n'roll side
08:04 The situations are "what the fuck"
08:06 And the characters are all a bit crazy
08:08 And it works, it works really well
08:10 We are really hooked on the film
08:12 But besides that, there are also a lot of night scenes which are really ugly
08:15 And finally, the overall script doesn't keep all its promises
08:19 But it's still a very good movie, and I recommend it to you
08:22 And we move on to the podium
08:24 I had a hard time to rank these three movies
08:26 For me, all of them are excellent movies
08:28 And I ranked them by personal feelings
08:30 But the three, in any case, I recommend them to you
08:33 And let's go, suspense trap, we move on to number 3
08:36 Goodbye Paris by Alice Winocourt
08:42 In Paris, Mia is caught in an attack in a brewery
08:45 And since then, her brain has erased the memory of this evening
08:48 She only remembers a few details, a few bits of the evening, here and there
08:52 And so she will investigate to try to find the memory, to remember what happened
08:56 And above all, to try to rebuild
08:58 It's not easy to make a movie about attacks
09:00 You need to have a fair speech, it's super sensitive, it crystallizes a lot of things
09:04 And you don't have to be too tearful either
09:06 And there, for once, it's super well done
09:09 The movie also, between social drama, introspective quest and investigation
09:12 We have almost police passages
09:14 And next to it, beautiful moments of humanity
09:16 And it also insists a lot on the paperwork that was in the kitchen or at the service at the time of the attack
09:21 And that's an excellent idea
09:23 It adds an unsuspected depth to the film
09:25 In fact, all these papers had to flee when the police arrived
09:30 So they couldn't be treated, they couldn't be taken care of
09:33 And so, talking about these people, it allows to deal with the horror of the attacks, of the religious extremism
09:39 But while having a very benevolent look on people of foreign origin
09:43 And in addition, the film manages to find the perfect conclusion
09:46 So it's not at all easy to tell like that, you have to see the movie
09:49 But roughly, he tries to say that the attacks have marked our lives, they were important
09:53 But they didn't stop them for that
09:55 This movie really impressed me, there is too much intelligence at all levels
09:59 And we must also mention the impeccable performance of Virginie Efira
10:02 Frankly, Cesar, well deserved
10:04 And the realization is really well done too
10:07 There are a lot of light effects, there are flares that cross the camera very often
10:11 And it gives the film a dreamlike atmosphere
10:14 As if Virginie Efira hadn't yet fully returned to our world, she was still dreaming a little
10:19 And come on, we move on to film number 2
10:21 The origin of evil of Sébastien Marmier
10:27 A young woman played by Laure Calamy finds her father, a millionaire businessman she has never met
10:31 She will spend a few days at his house and meet her whole family
10:34 Except that someone is lying, it remains to be seen who and why
10:39 It's a pretty original thriller, we follow with great curiosity what will happen in this mysterious villa
10:43 And the twists of situations follow with a lot of dark humor
10:47 The story is super well mastered
10:49 Everything that happens before our eyes is both totally credible and completely crazy
10:53 The characters are all a little twisted, there is a very particular atmosphere
10:57 Yet, when we take a little step back, we say to ourselves, well yes, everything we are shown is possible
11:02 The film also has a lot of subtext
11:04 It deals with family, patriarchy, the gap between the rich and the popular classes
11:09 And where it is very strong, it is that it plays on our a priori
11:12 We will expect that such or such person has such behavior in view of his sex, age and social position
11:18 And the film plays on this to dispel our expectations in a super skillful way
11:22 Which allows us to question the way we label people quite quickly
11:26 So the origin of evil, it was a great surprise
11:30 This film is great and in addition the distribution is great
11:33 Special mention to Laura Calamy who is really super striking in her role
11:36 And go that's it, we go to number 1
11:39 The night of the 12th by Dominique Moll
11:44 Clara, a young woman, is found murdered not far from her home
11:48 And we will follow the investigation of the judicial police
11:50 Who will try to find witnesses, question suspects
11:53 And what makes this film quite special is that it deals with an investigation that is not elucidated
11:58 So from the beginning we are told, well you are going to see an investigation, you are going to see suspects
12:02 But in the end we will still not know who killed Clara
12:05 This film is really brilliant and that for two reasons
12:07 The first is that it succeeds in being exciting while sinking into the real
12:10 The base part is still very strong
12:12 From the beginning we are told, well no, the investigation is not elucidated, we will not know who the murderer is
12:16 And despite that we are really hooked on the film
12:19 And that thanks to the accuracy of writing and interpretation of all the characters
12:22 And the will not to want to make great cinema
12:25 In fact all the scenes sound real, we really feel like we are there
12:28 And to share the daily life of the members of the brigade
12:30 We follow their work, their budget deficit, their reports, their photocopier problems
12:34 We are not at all on a documentary, it's a real film
12:37 But it's authentic, it's realistic
12:39 And the second interest of this film is its feminist subtext
12:42 The ambition of the film is really to tell us about the violence done to women
12:45 We never have openly sexist remarks
12:48 But there are small reflections or small sentences that really make you understand
12:51 Awareness that there is a problem of society around the violence that is done to women
12:55 We perfectly grasp that it is patriarchy that killed the victim
12:59 And it is also because of him that the investigation is difficult because we all have prejudices
13:03 But it's always very fair, never too far
13:05 For example, the cops are not a mountain of stereotypes
13:08 The film is never judging in their eyes
13:10 We understand them, we are on their side, we understand their remarks
13:13 But we realize that there is something wrong
13:16 So the night of the 12th, I advise 100%
13:18 It's really a great film and César well deserved
13:21 And here I think we went around this little catch-up 2022
13:24 Do not hesitate to tell me in the comments what you think of this format
13:27 If you want others, if you are interested
13:29 And also what you thought of these films
13:31 Do not hesitate to give me your top
13:33 And if you have suggestions of good recent films that would not be in this list
13:36 I am a taker
13:37 Thank you very much for watching this video, I hope you liked it
13:40 Go to the movies and eat pizzas!
13:42 Pizza!
13:43 (upbeat music)
