Will the Dodgers strike some trades with the St.Louis Cardinals at the 2023 MLB trade deadline?
Transcript
00:00 The MLB trade deadline is coming up and the Dodgers have been linked to two specific teams
00:04 for the last few months.
00:05 The Chicago White Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals are the most obvious trading partners for
00:08 the Dodgers, so we're going to focus on one of those teams in this video, which is
00:12 the St. Louis Cardinals.
00:13 For more information like this, make sure to head over to DodgersNation.com and InsideTheDodgers.com

00:20 The Cardinals have tons of players that would be perfect fits for the Dodgers, which I wrote
00:23 an article about on DodgersNation.com, but in this video I'm going to talk about three
00:27 specific players.
00:28 Obviously Nolan Arenado is a target, but I'm not going to talk about him in this video.
00:32 First I want to talk about Tyler O'Neal.
00:34 Tyler O'Neal finished 8th in MVP voting in 2021, hitting 34 home runs and 80 RBIs.
00:39 However, he hasn't been able to stay healthy since.
00:42 O'Neal was just activated off the 60-day injured list after playing in just 29 games
00:46 this season, but is finally back and healthy for the stretch run.
00:50 O'Neal is a power-hitting right-handed bat who plays in left field, and he would fill
00:53 the Dodgers' biggest need on offense, which is a right-handed bat.
00:56 If they wanted to take a chance on a high upside by-low player, O'Neal would be that.
01:00 The second guy on the list I want to talk about is Jack Flaherty, the starting pitcher
01:03 who's had an up-and-down year for St. Louis.
01:05 Flaherty reminds me a lot of Walker Bueller, as he's a hard-throwing right-hander who wears
01:08 really tight pants, but he would be a great fit for LA, not only because he grew up in
01:12 Southern California, but because he would fill a need in their rotation.
01:15 After seeing his ERA balloon to 6.29 earlier in May, he finally brought it all the way
01:19 back down and is looking really sharp as the trade deadline approaches.
01:22 He would be a great candidate to fill in to the Dodgers' postseason rotation this year.
01:26 The third and final guy on this list is Mr. Tommy Edmund, or as I like to call him, Mr.
01:29 Utility.
01:30 Tommy Edmund can play second base, shortstop, and the outfield, and is a switch-hitting
01:34 bat.
01:35 Edmund would not only be able to help all around the diamond, but he would also fill
01:38 that right-handed bat need and potentially fill in against right-handed pitching when
01:41 he plays from the left side.
01:43 While he hasn't had the best year hitting, he's still 28 years old and is under a few
01:46 more years of team control, so he could be a utility guy for the next few years in Los
01:49 Angeles.
