Transcript
00:00 >> Yeah, I feel like a young guy can stand out by just making sure he's up to
00:05 date on his play calls.
00:06 He's working on his fundamentals and he's working on his craft each and
00:10 every day.
00:11 >> Frank McCarthy talked about kind of marrying this idea of having the younger
00:15 guys and the older guys mesh together and have a really good working relationship.
00:19 What has it been like for you being the leader in this room and
00:22 really this team to see these younger guys stepping up?
00:24 And does it rejuvenate you in a way?
00:26 >> Yeah, most definitely.
00:27 I feel like we got a lot of speed on our defense, especially the D line.
00:31 And having the younger guys coming, tag along, asking questions all the time.
00:37 It makes me feel like I'm young again.
00:40 I started asking more questions, so I feel like it's pretty good for us.
00:44 >> As an edge rusher, obviously when the play is going on,
00:46 you don't know what's going on behind you.
00:48 But based on the talent and
00:49 the personnel that's back there coming into this 2023 camp,
00:52 what level of confidence does it give you to know that, hey,
00:55 you can go play free and just be D-line because the guys behind you have so
00:58 much talent?
00:59 >> Right, yeah, man, we got a strong cast, man.
01:03 Our unit is tremendous in their jobs.
01:06 And definitely the confidence is gonna be there when you got ball hops and
01:12 head hunters like we do on our defense, so most definitely.
01:17 >> Last year you talked about how your mentality changed going into the 22
01:21 season, have you had any changes in terms of the way you're approaching 23?
01:27 >> I feel like I wanna be more dominant, I feel like I can play a bigger role in
01:32 taking my dominance to the next level, especially being more familiar with
01:37 the defense and understanding what my back row responsibilities are.
