00:02 - Hello, my name's Simon Smalley.
00:05 I found out about the Safer Streets Initiative
00:08 through a flyer that came through the door
00:11 and the PCSO came to visit and had a recce
00:15 and sent what he thought was needed.
00:17 And as we already had a ring doorbell installed,
00:20 he said we were able to have a bulkhead light
00:24 installed out on the front, a motion detector,
00:27 a bulkhead light, which is dazzling,
00:30 pretty mildly, and a great, great advantage.
00:33 Came and had a look around the premises
00:35 in the outside and identified the areas
00:38 that could do with some assistance,
00:40 which was the side entry.
00:42 So he recommended to have a motion detector light
00:45 there as well, and some really big, chunky padlocks
00:49 on the shed outside, Hasps and padlocks.
00:52 Before it was being quite unsure of going out
00:55 in the evening because in the darkness
00:57 there wasn't much illumination from the streetlights,
01:01 but they seemed to be upgraded.
01:02 And Armadid came back and explained the whole thing,
01:05 which was, you know, it's wonderful that the funding's there
01:08 for such initiatives to be implemented, it's great.
01:12 - Hello, I'm Caroline Henry.
01:15 I'm the Police and Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire.
01:18 It's amazing to hear Simon's story
01:22 and to hear how he's directly benefiting
01:25 from Safer Streets.
01:26 This has been made possible after the Office
01:28 of Police and Crime Commissioner and our partners
01:31 secured three million pounds of Safer Street funding
01:36 from the Home Office.
01:38 Simon had experienced years of antisocial behaviour.
01:42 Thanks to his new deterrent PIR lighting and hardened locks,
01:47 he's been made to feel safer.
01:49 We're working hard to ensure people across Nottinghamshire
01:53 feel safe at home and whilst out and about in Nottinghamshire.
01:58 Thank you.
