00:00 Welcome along to your national weather update.
00:02 Most places having a fine Monday.
00:04 There are a few showers around,
00:06 but generally it's dry for much of the country
00:08 and a little bit of sunshine too.
00:10 However, that sunshine is disappearing in the West
00:12 because there's a large area of cloud.
00:15 It's an area of low pressure, not particularly intense,
00:17 but it is gonna bring some damp weather through the night
00:21 and into Tuesday across the South.
00:23 But before we get there, as I said,
00:24 many places dry and bright today.
00:26 Main exception, Scotland,
00:27 where we do have quite a few showers drifting through
00:30 and they could turn quite heavy in a few places
00:32 during the late afternoon into the evening.
00:34 One or two showers possible for Northern Ireland,
00:36 Northern England, but most of England and Wales,
00:38 dry and bright.
00:39 Some cloud, some sunny spells,
00:41 temperatures still around or a touch below average
00:44 at high teens or low twenties.
00:47 The cloud will be thickening in the far Southwest.
00:49 We saw it earlier and that will bring
00:51 maybe one or two light showers in here
00:53 during the evening as well.
00:55 We'll continue with the threat of some heavier showers
00:57 across Northern Scotland well into the evening,
00:59 but even here they should tend to fade overnight.
01:01 Slightly clear skies across Scotland,
01:03 Northern Ireland, Northern England
01:05 will allow it to turn a bit chilly
01:06 down into single figures in rural spots.
01:09 Further South will mostly stay in the teens,
01:11 but that cloud will make for a gray, damp, drizzly start
01:15 across the coasts of South Wales,
01:17 West Wales and Southwest England.
01:19 And that thicker cloud with a little drizzly rain
01:21 will push towards the Midlands
01:23 and eventually across the Southeast.
01:24 After a bright start here,
01:26 it will turn quite gray by the afternoon.
01:28 But for much of Northern England, Northern Ireland,
01:30 Central and Southern Scotland,
01:32 it's another fine day on Tuesday.
01:33 And across the far North, a bit of a breeze,
01:35 one or two showers, but even here too, some sunny spells.
01:39 Temperatures again, generally still below average
01:42 for August high teens in most places at best.
01:45 But there are signs of a bit of a change.
01:48 Still some damp and drizzly weather
01:50 through Tuesday evening across the Southeast,
01:53 but out West, notice there's a line of rain
01:56 pushing in towards the Republic of Ireland.
01:58 Now that is a warm front.
02:00 It's going to drift its way northwards
02:02 as we go through the course of Tuesday night
02:05 and into Wednesday.
02:06 It's not going to bring too much in the way of rain,
02:08 but it's a warm front, so it's wafting in warmer air.
02:10 So the combination of this high pressure
02:12 and that warm front means it will turn warmer
02:14 through Wednesday and into Thursday.
02:16 May not last all that long.
02:17 This cold front is set to swoosh all that warmth away
02:21 as we head towards the weekend.
02:22 But certainly for a couple of days,
02:24 something a little warmer on the way later this week.
