00:00 A brave and quick thinking 11 year old girl is being hailed as a hero after she alerted
00:05 her family that her house was on fire.
00:08 Victoria Poirier has the story.
00:11 Around 7 a.m. Sunday morning, 11 year old Addison Carter woke up and walked downstairs
00:17 with her dog in hand.
00:19 That's when she saw something she had never seen before.
00:24 And I saw that the garage door was like there was smoke all coming out of it and I knew
00:32 that wasn't normal.
00:34 Addison knew then she had to do something about it quickly.
00:38 Immediately she went to her parents to wake them up, but at the time she had no clue the
00:43 extent of the smoke.
00:46 Even though I couldn't really tell what she was saying, she was saying there's a fire,
00:50 something's wrong, there's smoke.
00:53 After waking up her parents, Addison knew the next step was to get everyone else out
00:57 of the house.
00:58 From waking up her sister to putting shoes on her grandmother, Addison stayed calmed
01:03 but moved quickly, knowing she didn't have much time to get everyone out safely.
01:08 I got around is when we realized half the house was on fire and Addison was actually
01:13 opening the gate for us to let coke out.
01:16 Within five minutes, Addison saved seven lives, including her dog.
01:21 Now she has a message for other kids who may go through emergency situations.
01:27 And if you know that something isn't right, try to tell someone immediately because it
01:34 could save your life.
01:36 Her mother says she's proud of her daughter's bravery and very grateful to still have her
01:41 family.
01:42 It was just a chain of events and then we were out and it's all because of her.
