McFarland High School Football is looking to turn things around in the upcoming season, starting with a change at the top. McFarland hired Coach Norm Brown over the summer to be the new head coach for the Cougars. Brown won back-to-back Southeast Yosemite League titles with North High School 5 years ago. 23ABC's Adrian Luevano spoke with Coach Brown to learn more about this season's Cougars team.

00:08 Valley start their seasons. Scrimmages start this friday and McFarland is
00:13 playing Arvin McFarland is looking to turn things around when it comes to
00:17 their football team. Norm Brown was hired this summer to be the new head
00:20 coach for the Cougars. Brown won back to back Southeast Yosemite League titles
00:24 with North High School five years ago. He's looking forward to leading this
00:28 McFarland team, especially with the potential of their senior class. We
00:33 want to compete in every game. We want to do really well coming out of the
00:37 gate. Great start, great finish. Okay. I think competing in the in the South
00:41 Sequoia League will be the biggest task of all and I think that they know that
00:46 it's coming and so we'll see how they handle that adversity because that's
00:49 what life is. It's not necessarily when the going is good, right? Everybody
00:52 knows that it's easy, it's fun, everybody's happy. But how about when
00:55 it's when it's tough and the chips are down and that's true character and
00:58 that's what we're going to teach him and follow these kids. This year will
01:02 also be the final year for the Cougars in the South Sequoia League. They go
01:05 independent for football in 2024.
