00:00 The Green Wave, which carried Perikatan Nasional to win 74 parliamentary seats in the 2022
00:06 general election, continued its momentum in the state legislative elections on Saturday.
00:11 Bersatu and PAS were able to strengthen their position in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah
00:16 at the expense of both Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional, especially BN Linchpin UMNO.
00:23 While the Unity Coalition managed to retain control of the three states, PN made inroads
00:28 especially in Malay areas in Penang and Selangor.
00:32 For PHBN, the consolation is that for the most part, PN was kept out of Negeri Sembilan
00:38 where the opposition coalition only won three seats.
00:42 PN's strong performance will paper over issues the coalition faced before the polls,
00:47 including claims of a cartel in Bersatu, unhappiness over candidacies and a lack of support from
00:53 non-Malays.
00:55 How the election results will change the dynamics in PN remains to be seen but for now, the
01:00 opposition coalition can't afford to put its internal issues on the backburner.
