00:00 It's normal that Ali Bongo would call for help from his supporters because it is believed,
00:04 or according to him and the Electoral Commission, in the country he won last Saturday's election.
00:09 The results were proclaimed Tuesday night.
00:12 The results were proclaimed prior to the military coup, and according to the Electoral Council,
00:17 he won by 64 votes.
00:20 Well, that is not happening anymore.
00:22 As the military coup is successful, the country has a new transitional president, Brice Oligingema,
00:28 who is believed to be a relative of the post-president Ali Bongo Ndimba.
00:34 The video he made yesterday, calling for his supporters to make noise and to help him,
00:40 is still making the rounds, with people trying to understand exactly the way things change
00:46 in Gabon within a night.
00:49 And also, we would also remember that there are celebrations on the streets of Gabon since
00:53 yesterday, when everything became clear to the population.
00:57 People in the capital, Libreville, close to the streets, are claiming the army, thanking
01:01 them for liberating the country and for deposing Ali Bongo Ndimba, who's been in power since
01:08 2009.
01:09 For now, all we know is there is a curfew which has been imposed by the military, the
01:14 coup leaders, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
01:17 However, people are allowed to move around town during the day.
01:22 Also, businesses in Libreville are still shut because things are not very clear at the moment.
01:28 People are afraid to open their businesses or even to go to work.
01:31 So, we're still very calm in the country, until certainty, or they'll be sure that everything
01:37 is under control and that the transitional president is actually in place, and peace
01:43 will return to the country.
