00:03 Plans for a £21.8 million new railway station in Claycross have taken a step closer, with
00:09 the announcement of a blueprint to attract funding for the scheme.
00:13 North East Derbyshire District Councillor Charlotte Cupid announced the completion of
00:17 the Claycross Railway Station Strategic Outline Business Case Blueprint, which can now be
00:21 used to bid for funding to make the plan become a reality.
00:25 The feasibility study was compiled using £100,000 of funding through the government-funded Claycross
00:31 Town Deal Regeneration Project, and the blueprint can now be used to attract money to make the
00:35 proposed station scheme a reality.
00:38 It is the first step towards any possible government intervention, and includes testing
00:42 various options, engagement with local people, design, an assessment of the potential railway
00:47 station's strategic fit, its commercial viability, value for money, and whether it
00:52 will be affordable and achievable.
00:55 A historic Derbyshire pub which was forced to close during the pandemic is to reopen
01:00 after undergoing a £1.6 million refurbishment.
01:04 Longbow Bars and Restaurants Ltd, owned by Rob Hattersley from Bakewell, will reopen
01:09 the Ashford Arms in Ashford-in-the-Water in early next year, following extensive refurbishment
01:14 of the 17th Century pub.
01:16 The Ashford Arms will become the third venue under the Longbow Bars umbrella.
01:20 It joins the Maynard, an award-winning wedding venue, restaurant and hotel in Grindleford,
01:24 and the George, an award-winning historic bar, restaurant and hotel in Hathersedge.
