Proboscis Monkey attacked by Crocodile

The Proboscis Monkey is a medium-sized arboreal primate found only in the rainforests of Kalimantan. Male Proboscis Monkeys are not only one of the largest monkeys in Asia but they are also one of the most distinctive mammals in the world, having long, fleshy noses and large, swollen bellies. Because of the Proboscis Monkey's large size and lifestyle which lives almost entirely in trees, they have few predators in their natural environment, except for the Clouded Leopard which hunts the Proboscis Monkey when it is forced to stay on the ground. They are also preyed upon by crocodiles while in the water but humans are the biggest threat to these unique animals. Not only are proboscis monkeys losing large areas of their natural habitat due to deforestation, but they are also not well adapted to living close to human activity and are therefore being pushed to smaller, isolated areas in their native areas.

Monyet Bekantan adalah primata arboreal berukuran sedang yang hanya ditemukan di hutan hujan Kalimantan. Monyet Bekantan jantan bukan hanya salah satu monyet terbesar di Asia tetapi mereka juga salah satu mamalia paling khas di dunia, memiliki hidung yang panjang dan berdaging serta perut yang besar dan bengkak. Karena ukurannya yang besar dan gaya hidup Monyet Bekantan yang hampir seluruhnya tinggal di pohon, mereka hanya mempunyai sedikit pemangsa di lingkungan alaminya, kecuali Macan Dahan yang memburu Bekantan ketika ia terpaksa berada di tanah. Mereka juga dimangsa Buaya saat berada di dalam air tetapi Manusia adalah ancaman terbesar bagi hewan unik ini. Bekantan tidak hanya kehilangan wilayah habitat alaminya yang luas karena penggundulan hutan, namun mereka juga tidak beradaptasi dengan baik untuk hidup dekat dengan aktivitas manusia dan oleh karena itu mereka terdesak ke wilayah yang lebih kecil dan terisolasi di daerah asal mereka
