01:39 (upbeat music)
01:41 (dramatic music)
01:46 - What's going on?
01:47 Why?
01:49 - It's a team up.
01:50 And you're all on task force X.
01:54 - Hope you like it.
01:56 - You destroyed property and endangered citizens.
01:59 - We find out who he is.
02:01 - You will repay your debt to society.
02:03 - Still thinking Lane?
02:04 - I'm sticking with it.
02:05 - Okay. - I'll stick with it.
02:07 - I'm gonna go Deadshot still.
02:08 I don't know why, just got a feeling.
02:10 - You think the general is Deadshot?
02:12 - I think he's either, yeah, I think he's Deadshot.
02:13 - He's like a washed up Deadshot?
02:15 - He's an old Deadshot.
02:16 - I mean, you know, he's not,
02:17 he's clearly in a position of power,
02:19 but he's not as fit as he once was.
02:21 I'll take it, I like that.
02:22 - I think it'd be interesting to have someone
02:24 that like is a different type,
02:25 but still working with Waller.
02:26 - I'm for it.
02:27 - After this operation, Superman will cease to be a problem.
02:31 - Oh, oh, oh, the general.
02:33 It's gotta be overwhelming.
02:38 - Cannot imagine.
02:39 - Superman saved my uncle?
02:42 Wow, Clark's been busy.
02:44 - Yeah, yeah.
02:45 - Whoa.
02:46 (laughing)
02:46 - There was almost a bulldozer accident.
02:48 I stopped it, I have super hearing.
02:49 - This is so going on Flameburn.
02:52 - Manic Superman.
02:53 - I can hear a cat and tree.
02:56 - He is not slept.
02:58 - I can hear everyone, Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy.
03:01 (laughing)
03:02 - Jimmy.
03:03 - You been sleeping much, buddy?
03:05 - Not for a few days.
03:06 That's not important because I heard him, the general.
03:11 He's in the city and he's planning something.
03:12 I can't stop until I find him.
03:14 - Damn.
03:15 - What?
03:16 - Wow.
03:19 - How did he get the omnipresent reigning cherry blossom?
03:23 - He just flew out right as she came in.
03:26 - You put him in the ventilation of the entire building.
03:28 - That's cute.
03:29 Oh, that's excessive.
03:31 (laughing)
03:33 - I need you to assist our guest editorial writer.
03:37 - Who's it gonna be?
03:38 - It's Pinky Bale!
03:39 - Ooh!
03:40 - Porter who broke the Queen Industries inheritance scandal,
03:43 who took down the Falconies.
03:45 - Falconie name check.
03:46 - And Queen?
03:47 - But she's thinking of leaving the Gotham Gazette.
03:49 I want her here, winning us awards.
03:52 - Hey, I need you to do whatever you can to keep her happy.
03:55 - We need her for more Batman Easter eggs.
03:57 - We need DC world expansion and exposition.
04:00 - And we're writing about the number one
04:02 greatest danger to Metropolis, Superman!
04:06 - Of course.
04:07 - We're just getting reports of an invisible man
04:11 on a crime spree downtown.
04:13 - Intergang, the invisible man.
04:16 He's the one the general's looking for.
04:18 - But he's invisible.
04:19 (laughing)
04:20 - Quite ironic.
04:21 - He's such a nice boy.
04:23 And he carries my groceries.
04:25 - Flip Johnson.
04:28 - Yeah!
04:29 - News kid.
04:31 - And what is your relationship to Superman?
04:34 - He saved Flip's life.
04:35 - And he let Patty interview him for the News Kid newspaper.
04:38 - Little child.
04:40 - Sorry, I don't have much time.
04:44 An invisible man is running around
04:46 and I think he's connected to the general.
04:47 - Whoa.
04:48 - Birdwatchers say an invisible force
04:50 broke the window at Morrison's Pawn Shop
04:52 less than a minute ago.
04:54 - Whoa.
04:54 - Let's go meet my final interview subject.
04:57 - The general.
04:58 - Superman's no hero.
04:59 He's the end of the world.
05:01 (snaps fingers)
05:03 - Have we met him?
05:04 - Isn't that Alex?
05:05 - Alex from the first?
05:06 Yeah.
05:07 - Yeah, from the Meso--
05:08 - I think that's Lex.
05:09 (dramatic music)
05:10 - Oh boy.
05:11 (grunting)
05:13 - Go back to where you came from!
05:14 (grunting)
05:16 - Oof.
05:17 - He destroyed this tower, bankrupted Amazo Tech,
05:20 and put thousands out of work.
05:21 I see a level of destruction no human could ever achieve.
05:25 - What about your boss?
05:27 - If he really wanted to hurt us,
05:30 what could we do about it?
05:31 (dramatic music)
05:33 - No.
05:35 - Just him having a bad day could spell the end for us.
05:38 - Batman metaphor.
05:39 - Yeah.
05:40 - One bad day.
05:40 - Well, it needs a little push.
05:42 - You can't publish this.
05:44 - You wanna be number one?
05:45 You don't get there by writing fluff.
05:47 You go for blood.
05:49 - That's something Carrie never understood.
05:51 - But you don't just only go for blood.
05:53 - She works in the internet.
05:54 - I mean, you got one bad take and a bunch of, you know,
05:59 like, nuance.
05:59 - That's gonna do well on Twitter.
06:01 - Yeah, you can't fit nuance into a headline.
06:04 - Wait, I just wanna talk.
06:06 - Oh boy.
06:08 (dramatic music)
06:10 - Go!
06:11 (car honking)
06:12 - Whoa, whoa!
06:13 - Huh? - What the heck?
06:16 You could've killed someone!
06:17 - No.
06:18 - Invisible man.
06:20 - The worst day for this.
06:21 - Right now, I need to find the general before--
06:24 - Well, maybe you shouldn't.
06:25 At least not right now.
06:27 Take a break from being Superman and just try being normal.
06:32 - Spider-Man 2 this.
06:34 - Walk away from the costume.
06:36 - Put it in a trash can.
06:37 - Ceremony.
06:39 - I need to save my sister.
06:40 They grabbed us after you ruined our bank job.
06:42 I got away, but they got Siobhan and Albert.
06:45 They took them into an underground facility
06:46 with their other prisoners.
06:48 (laser zapping)
06:49 - Whoa.
06:50 - They're moving everyone out today to some new location.
06:54 If I don't break them out now, I might never find them again.
06:57 - What Easter egg city are they being moved to?
06:58 (laughing)
07:00 - If you show me where they're holding her,
07:01 I'll help you get them back.
07:02 - Damn.
07:03 - What a guy.
07:04 - That's an interesting little plot line.
07:06 Oh, cool tech.
07:09 - Yeah.
07:09 - We're too late.
07:10 - No, we're not.
07:11 - Yeah, not for me.
07:13 - Everyone hold on.
07:14 I'm here to help.
07:15 (dramatic music)
07:15 - Ow.
07:16 (dramatic music)
07:19 - Oh no.
07:20 - Boss fight in the air.
07:22 - No.
07:22 (dramatic music)
07:25 - Hey.
07:30 - You really think you can ruin my life
07:32 without any consequences?
07:34 - No self-awareness, my guy.
07:36 - No.
07:37 (dramatic music)
07:40 - But now he looks like a mix of like Frieza and Boo.
07:43 - Yeah.
07:43 - I like this parasite.
07:45 (laughing)
07:47 (screaming)
07:49 - It's got a little bit of Gengar in there too.
07:52 A little Pokemon.
07:53 - Mm-hmm.
07:54 All the animes.
07:55 - Yeah.
07:56 (laughing)
07:57 (screaming)
07:59 - Jeez.
08:05 - We can't stop Clark, but we can stop Vicky.
08:08 We'll talk to Perry.
08:09 - Whoa, did you see what Vicky Vale just posted?
08:11 - Trent Grimms, the Independent.
08:13 (laughing)
08:15 - Oh boy.
08:18 - Editor in chief?
08:21 - She used us to get promoted.
08:24 This is gonna hurt Clark.
08:25 - Lois, this is gonna hurt Clark.
08:29 This is hurting Clark right now.
08:31 - Bibbo87 was the name.
08:32 - Bibbo!
08:33 - Bibbo!
08:34 Bibbo's getting it!
08:36 - Bibbo lives.
08:37 - I hope we get, yes!
08:38 - Hope his restaurant's doing well.
08:41 (dramatic music)
08:44 - Nice grip on the physics too.
08:49 (screaming)
08:51 - Jeez.
08:57 - That was sick.
09:04 - Yeah.
09:05 - Jack Quaid plus this choreography,
09:06 this is like one of my favorite Supermans.
09:09 - Yeah, I love this.
09:10 - It feels like fresh but classic.
09:12 - Yeah, impressively.
09:14 - Yeah, and he's got that right every man kind of quality.
09:17 - This ends when I'm done!
09:19 (laughing)
09:24 - Oh.
09:27 Oh dude.
09:30 - Stand down, Ivo.
09:32 - They're gonna blow his head up.
09:34 - You're done when I say you're done, Ivo.
09:39 - I'll tell you when you've had enough.
09:42 - Why are you doing this?
09:44 - Because you're no hero, you're the end of the world.
09:47 - No, I only wanna--
09:50 - Shut him up.
09:51 - People keep saying that.
09:53 - Yeah, when we're at the end of the world,
09:54 it's very specific.
09:55 - Maybe somebody with multiversal knowledge.
09:58 Maybe it wasn't all just fun and games with Mr. Mixey.
10:02 - They've taken Clark.
10:09 - Such a good show.
10:10 - Yeah, man, geez.
10:11 - Really impressed with the pacing,
10:13 the overall style, like you said, classic but new.
10:17 Just impressive stuff.
10:18 - Yeah, and like again, they're bite-sized
10:21 but they're also really nicely rounded.
10:22 They work individually and as a big piece.
10:25 - The Vicky Vale episode, but it's a part one of two.
10:27 It's got a whole arc, we have the whole journey.
10:29 - Start the next one.
10:30 - And we're back.
10:31 - Yeah.
10:32 - Anything on Flamebird?
10:33 - Nothing, he disappeared off the face of the earth.
10:35 - Which is why we're here.
10:37 - Yes.
10:39 - The real heroes.
10:40 - Big words brought the walkie talkies,
10:42 Gabby made missing posters, even Patty is helping.
10:45 (laughing)
10:46 - Patty stepping up.
10:47 - Even Patty.
10:48 - We'll find him and everything will be okay, you'll see.
10:52 - MVP of the show.
10:53 - Yeah, go Stranger Things kids.
10:55 (laughing)
10:57 Find that secret laboratory.
10:59 - Season two, she's got mind powers.
11:02 - Secretly that's Lucas's sister.
11:06 - Oh yeah, 100%.
11:08 (laughing)
11:09 - She's created D&D.
11:10 - You're not going to punch your way out of this one,
11:15 Superman, now I need dates and numbers.
11:18 - What?
11:19 I'm lonely.
11:20 - Who's your black book?
11:23 - Yeah.
11:24 - I've lived on earth my whole life.
11:26 - Stop lying, I was there on zero day and so were you.
11:31 - What?
11:32 - An unidentified flying object broke through the atmosphere.
11:35 - Yeah, where are you?
11:37 - He's taking a nap, come on.
11:38 - I'll be home soon.
11:40 - I can't believe you.
11:41 - Whoa, hey Mandy.
11:43 - Don't Mandy me.
11:44 - Damn it is him.
11:45 - Get your head in the game.
11:47 You know one day I'm not going to be around
11:49 to pull you out of trouble.
11:51 - What do you mean?
11:53 You've got a whole series coming up.
11:55 - In and out of continuity.
11:57 (tires screeching)
12:00 - Whoa, whoa.
12:04 - Whoa.
12:04 - Whoa.
12:09 - That does not look like it means hope.
12:11 - Wild nope.
12:12 Is this like a Zod?
12:18 Is this?
12:19 - It looks Zod-ish.
12:20 - Yeah.
12:21 - Whoa.
12:23 - This definitely looks like their tech.
12:24 - Yeah, cool design work.
12:27 - So the American government retrofitting Kryptonian tech.
12:31 - That tracks.
12:33 - I like the motion blur and the edge of frame stuff
12:36 they're doing.
12:37 - Yeah, the like lensing that they're putting on,
12:39 the glassing effect.
12:41 - Whoa, that was intense.
12:43 - Yeah.
12:44 - Then you showed up passing yourself off as a hero.
12:56 So you are going to tell me everything you know.
12:59 Who are you and why are you on earth?
13:01 Who is your daddy and what does he do?
13:03 - Scientist.
13:04 - You know, I'm something of a scientist.
13:07 (laughing)
13:08 - We've spent so much time guessing
13:10 about why Nemesis Omega attacked.
13:13 And when it seems like we finally have the answers
13:16 in our grasp, what if we're wrong?
13:19 - Oh.
13:20 - And if he's compromised your commitment,
13:23 then it's time to get rid of him.
13:24 - We need information more than revenge.
13:27 - Oh.
13:28 - We're keeping Superman alive for questioning.
13:30 - It's my call, not yours.
13:33 Dismissed.
13:34 - He'll be following for long.
13:36 Oh boy.
13:38 (grunting)
13:42 (howling)
13:47 (grunting)
13:50 (laughing)
13:56 - You still wanna take down Superman?
13:57 - Please do.
13:58 (explosion)
14:00 - Wow.
14:00 (explosion)
14:01 - Shit.
14:02 - You're gonna, they're gonna need Superman now.
14:06 - Yeah.
14:06 - Now you got these two to deal with.
14:09 - Oh, the only reason you won last time
14:11 is because you cheated.
14:13 You don't hurt me, I hurt you.
14:16 (explosion)
14:17 - Oh.
14:18 - Wilson, Waller, Code Orange.
14:22 (grunting)
14:24 - Code, oh shit.
14:25 - Ivo, stand down.
14:28 - He's mine.
14:30 (grunting)
14:31 - Ooh, yeah buddy.
14:34 (dramatic music)
14:36 - Oh boy.
14:37 - Is that a freaking kaiju?
14:40 (laughing)
14:42 (screaming)
14:43 - Damn it, intergang.
14:45 And live wire on the rest of them.
14:46 - I like the stakes building up enough
14:48 to make a finale work for Superman.
14:50 - Yeah.
14:50 - They do a good job.
14:52 - Bye bye, black ops.
14:54 (grunting)
14:55 - Oh.
14:55 (screaming)
14:56 - No, Agent Slade Wilson.
14:58 (gunshots)
15:01 - I mean, Raiden.
15:01 - Mark, where are you?
15:03 - Lois.
15:05 - Oh.
15:07 - That is how he will bond with Sam.
15:09 (grunting)
15:11 (screaming)
15:14 - Peace.
15:15 - Make sure you make it a hole.
15:16 (grunting)
15:18 - Man's crazy.
15:21 - That is a lot of parasite.
15:25 - Leave me.
15:28 - I've got him everyone.
15:29 Meet us back at the News Kid Clubhouse.
15:31 - And it carries Superman.
15:33 - Yep.
15:34 - He's just gonna hitch up to the bike and drag him.
15:37 - Remember when you asked me who I was?
15:42 I'm a weapon.
15:43 I'm an alien invader sent to kill you all.
15:46 - You're not a weapon, you're a person.
15:48 - You'll never be Ultraman.
15:50 - This guy though.
15:52 - Hey.
15:53 Oh damn, that is a full ass kaiju.
15:58 - This is like the centipede version of Godzilla.
16:00 - Whoa.
16:01 - He looks stinky.
16:03 - Yeah, he does.
16:05 (laughing)
16:06 - Looks very dank.
16:07 Like.
16:09 - Very dank and moist and just.
16:11 - Yeah.
16:12 A crab that sat out too long.
16:13 - A lot of mucus on him.
16:14 - Yeah.
16:15 - Clark, you can't beat him in your condition.
16:19 And he's just getting stronger
16:20 with every building he drains and.
16:23 - People are getting hurt, Lois.
16:25 I have to try.
16:27 - Aw.
16:28 - Wow.
16:34 Is there a point where he just explodes?
16:37 - That would be nice.
16:38 That would be a fun subversion.
16:40 Superman shows up just in time to.
16:42 - Splash.
16:44 - Be like Men in Black.
16:45 - I need more.
16:52 More.
16:53 - Oh yeah, the heat vision, come on.
16:56 - Use it, work it.
16:57 - I was gonna say, heat is energy,
16:59 but maybe this energy doesn't feed him.
17:01 - We have to help.
17:02 How do we help?
17:03 - Wow. - I have an idea.
17:06 - Go live, Jimmy.
17:08 - You know me as Flamebird,
17:09 but my real name is Jimmy Olsen.
17:11 - Flamebird face reveal.
17:13 (laughing)
17:14 - A reporter for the Daily Planet.
17:16 - She ain't Flamebird.
17:17 - Metropolis is under attack.
17:19 Superman is right now defending us.
17:21 - Based Ivo.
17:22 - People have told you to fear Superman
17:26 because he's different from us.
17:28 Because we want to punish those
17:29 who don't look or act like us.
17:31 - This guy's a Flamebird watcher.
17:33 (laughing)
17:34 - Ironically.
17:35 - Yeah.
17:36 - It's our turn, Metropolis.
17:38 - So please, turn off your power.
17:40 Shut off your buildings breakers, your generators.
17:42 - Yes.
17:43 - Superman has saved this city over and over again.
17:47 - It's time for us to save Superman.
17:49 - Yeah, who's got you?
17:53 - Yeah, Spider-Man too.
17:54 (laughing)
17:56 - Come on, Superman.
17:58 - Honey, turn off the lights.
18:00 - Yeah, I'm turning off Superman.
18:02 (screaming)
18:03 - Try to grab the inside, it's gonna work.
18:06 - What did you do?
18:09 You did something.
18:11 You cheated again.
18:13 - Dude, your whole skill set is cheating.
18:17 - I won't let you hurt the people of this city.
18:19 - You are not even human.
18:21 You turned me into a monster.
18:25 (laughing)
18:27 - Dude, I just wanna strangle this guy.
18:30 - You chose to be a monster, Ivo.
18:33 - Then what does that make an alien freak like you?
18:37 - Cool, pull him out, pull him out.
18:41 - Don't you read the paper?
18:42 - Oh, damn.
18:46 - Cool.
18:47 - Nice.
18:49 - I'm Superman.
18:51 (growling)
18:53 - Yeah, it's dusted, done and dusted out of this world.
18:57 - Get used to me being right here
18:59 because I am never letting you go again, buddy.
19:02 - Got him by the scalp.
19:06 - Yeah.
19:07 - He throws Jimmy into the Daily Planet.
19:11 - He's Lex Luthor.
19:13 - Yeah.
19:14 - So don't ever worry me like that again, Smallville.
19:18 I love you and--
19:20 (groaning)
19:21 - Aw, these cuties.
19:22 - I shipped them.
19:28 - Yeah, that's some reach.
19:29 - They're the ones I realigned.
19:31 Look at that.
19:31 - The love wing.
19:34 - Beautiful.
19:35 - No.
19:38 - No.
19:39 - No.
19:40 - James.
19:41 - Our superiors have been displeased at your failure
19:44 to take lethal action against the invader.
19:46 - At the cost of civilian lives.
19:48 - And what do you call what happened today?
19:51 - Your bullshit.
19:53 - You are no longer head of Task Force X.
19:56 I am.
19:57 - Whoa.
19:58 - From now on, we're taking a different track
20:01 in regards to Superman.
20:02 Ivo's last invention, the Omega Cannon.
20:07 - Good.
20:07 - Should weaken the alien enough for you
20:09 to carry out your new mission,
20:11 track down and terminate Superman.
20:14 - Bug.
20:15 - How cruel.
20:18 - Huh.
20:19 Jeepers, man.
20:22 - Whoa.
20:22 I wonder if that's gonna be the finale.
20:25 - It could be, I mean, yeah, it seems like.
20:27 And then maybe that's where the truth--
20:29 - Who is he?
20:30 Can we get a Lex?
20:32 Who's that guy?
20:33 - Yeah.
20:34 Do we see Bippo in person?
20:36 - Do we get to that, I mean, that really matters.
20:39 Do they eat at Bippo's?
20:40 - That's the post-credits.
20:42 Last picture on the credits will be them eating at Bippo's.
20:44 - Yeah, the Polaroid is of Bippo's,
20:45 and they zoom out, it's all them at Bippo's.
20:48 - Oh, man.
20:49 - Show's great.
20:51 - Yeah.
20:52 All right, rolling into the finale, here we go.
20:54 - Finale.
20:55 So good so far.
20:57 This sticks the landing.
20:59 - Oh, man.
21:01 - It's contender for a top. - Gonna have to rearrange
21:02 the whole ranking of the DC.
21:04 - Oh, yeah, we gotta throw it in there somewhere.
21:06 It's our first show that's full.
21:07 (dramatic music)
21:10 - Oh, no.
21:15 (dramatic music)
21:17 - Clark!
21:20 - Oh.
21:21 (dramatic music)
21:24 - Effectively ominous.
21:26 - Yeah, it's a super nightmare.
21:29 Post-traumatic Superman disorder.
21:32 - This S stands for sad.
21:34 - Yeah.
21:35 (dramatic music)
21:38 Oh, no.
21:39 No, no, no, no.
21:40 - We've all had that nightmare, but as a Kryptonian?
21:43 - Yeah.
21:44 - I'll never be like you, and if you come to Earth again,
21:47 I'll be here to stop you.
21:48 - Bah!
21:50 - About that.
21:51 - Skazi Doloran, my son.
21:55 - Oh!
21:56 - Oh. - Damn.
21:59 - They got me.
22:00 I didn't think we'd get any English.
22:02 They got me.
22:02 - I'm like, is it reacting to Clark's language?
22:05 - Yeah, did it take time to acclimate?
22:08 I do wonder if we get a season two,
22:10 if we get more Krypton.
22:11 I hope we get season two.
22:13 I would love a season two.
22:14 - Thank you so much for hosting me
22:16 and my dad for Thanksgiving.
22:18 - I'm bringing yams this year.
22:19 - It's gonna be yamtastic!
22:21 - It might be Lane.
22:22 Let's do it.
22:23 I think it's General Lane.
22:25 - But a conspiracy theory.
22:26 - Oh!
22:27 - Statue of Parasite.
22:29 - I need your help finding the general.
22:31 - The guy who kidnapped and then tried to kill you.
22:33 - Your father.
22:35 - Yeah.
22:36 - You're sure he hasn't seen
22:38 the terrifying evil Superman Datasphere?
22:41 - No.
22:41 - Seeing that-
22:42 - Would destroy him.
22:44 Just hate secrets.
22:46 We said no more secrets!
22:47 (laughing)
22:48 - Characters are always saying that.
22:50 - You three have brought me more trouble
22:52 than every other intern we've ever had.
22:55 Do you know how we deal with this type of behavior
22:57 at the Daily Planet?
22:58 - Whippings.
22:59 (laughing)
23:00 - City Saves Superman by Lois Lane, Clark Kent,
23:04 and Jimmy Olsen!
23:05 - Oh!
23:06 - So the only thing to do was to make you reporters.
23:11 - Yes!
23:13 Oh, that was fit.
23:13 That's Perry White.
23:15 - There you go, Perry.
23:16 - That's beautiful.
23:17 - Aw.
23:18 - This is a post-it note.
23:18 - Aw, I love-
23:19 - Whoa, Flay Flay!
23:22 - Aw, you guys are the new team, Rocket.
23:24 - Cute, cute, cute.
23:25 - It's true.
23:28 She gets a Pulitzer.
23:29 - Aw, I love this.
23:33 - Lane, go.
23:35 Have a happy Thanksgiving.
23:37 - Good arc.
23:38 - I need you to stay, Olsen.
23:39 We need to talk about Flame Bird.
23:42 - I wanna put it on the Daily Planet YouTube channel.
23:46 - I need those views.
23:47 - Well, you know that Clark's the one who saved the city.
23:50 - And he couldn't have done it without you.
23:52 Clark, peel potatoes.
23:53 I'm in the turkey zone.
23:55 - You unlocked this door with the baster of imagination.
23:59 - Pocket.
24:01 - After his powers showed up,
24:02 Clark was so scared of hurting someone
24:05 that he kept himself at a distance.
24:08 But now he has you with him.
24:11 Thank you.
24:12 - Thank you for helping us avoid a bright burn.
24:14 - Single-handedly now responsible.
24:17 So I hope you love him.
24:18 - Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
24:21 Dad's here.
24:21 - Reporting for duty.
24:23 - Come on, what's the worst that could happen?
24:25 - He's rude to you and Ma and Pa,
24:26 and then everybody hates me.
24:27 - Hey, nothing can change the way I feel about you.
24:31 - Not even your dad who tried to kill me.
24:33 (dramatic music)
24:34 (laughing)
24:37 (gasping)
24:39 - Happy Thanksgiving.
24:40 This is my boyfriend, Clark, meet my dad.
24:43 (laughing)
24:48 - Nice to meet you, Mr. Lane.
24:51 - Please call me General Lane.
24:54 - Oh boy.
24:56 - Have we met before?
24:57 - Nope, just have one of those faces.
25:00 - How do you spend your time?
25:03 (laughing)
25:06 - Jeez.
25:07 - She's smart, hardworking, and successful.
25:11 - She's a lane, it's what we expect.
25:14 - I am not impressed.
25:16 - What are you doing with your life, Kent?
25:18 - Clark does a lot.
25:19 Just the other day, he saved the entire--
25:21 - Store!
25:23 - Wow.
25:24 - At the store.
25:25 Ma, we should help in the kitchen.
25:27 - No, do not leave me here with--
25:28 - Be right back.
25:29 - Mom, let's say you had an enemy.
25:33 - I'd turn him into a friend.
25:35 - But if someone really hated you.
25:37 - But you can't hate your girlfriend's father, Clark.
25:40 - Oh boy.
25:41 - No matter what he says about your perfect son.
25:44 - Oh, go throw hands, Ma.
25:47 Show 'em what Martha means.
25:50 - Mrs. Kent said something about success?
25:53 - I had my first article published.
25:56 Ta-da!
25:57 - Already made the wall.
25:58 - Fan of Superman?
26:00 - Everyone loves him.
26:02 - Not everyone.
26:03 - You haven't read it, have you?
26:05 - I've been busy.
26:06 - I can't read.
26:07 - I'm trying to kill Superman.
26:08 - I wish I could remember where I've seen you before.
26:11 Applied sciences.
26:12 - Just a journalism degree, sir.
26:13 - Do you always wear glasses?
26:16 (laughing)
26:18 - Lois's dad is the general.
26:23 The general who tried to kill me.
26:25 - What?
26:26 (laughing)
26:28 - I love this.
26:30 - I hate Lois's father.
26:32 - She is as sweet as apple pie,
26:34 but that man is a lot.
26:38 - Sure.
26:39 - What a great final episode after the action.
26:41 You get some difference like this level.
26:43 - Don't tell anyone, Jimmy,
26:44 but this turkey is refusing to come to temp.
26:46 - Jimmy's got the solution.
26:49 Flamebird knows.
26:49 - Oh, everyone got the right.
26:50 - You have something to tell me?
26:52 - I don't know who you are.
26:54 (laughing)
26:56 - Oh my God, I love how awkward this all is.
27:01 - Clark, you are going to tell Lois about her dad.
27:03 Then you are both going to thank me
27:05 for my emotional maturity and for bringing your stuff,
27:08 which you left at the planet.
27:10 - Geez, dude.
27:11 - Now?
27:12 - No.
27:13 - No.
27:15 - What is this?
27:16 - They waste no time.
27:18 - This show just moves.
27:20 - Yeah.
27:20 - This isn't you.
27:28 - I can't.
27:30 (laser zapping)
27:32 - No.
27:35 - Oh no.
27:36 - Clark, what's going on?
27:40 - Oh no.
27:44 - This is bad.
27:45 - What's going on?
27:48 - The rock.
27:49 - Looks so freaking painful.
27:57 (grunting)
28:00 - Oh no, oh no.
28:03 - Oh no.
28:05 - Day Zero is back and all of his trauma.
28:08 - Oh my God.
28:09 - We are standing at ground zero of an alien invasion.
28:12 - Dad, how do you know about the--
28:14 - I need you all to evacuate now.
28:16 Lane here, deploy all assets to my location.
28:19 - Oh geez.
28:21 - I have to make sure everyone gets away
28:23 before I deal with the ship.
28:25 - How are you going to do that?
28:26 - It's huge and--
28:28 - Our son is Superman, Jonathan.
28:32 - Aw.
28:33 - It's literally his crib.
28:35 I think Scott Glenn would make a good Pa Kent.
28:38 - Oh, I like that.
28:39 - Even though he's been in like a billion comic things now.
28:42 - Pa stick.
28:43 - Training in warmth.
28:47 - That was--
28:55 - Oh no.
28:56 - I like it good.
28:57 - That was like a good corn maze.
28:58 - Yeah, exactly.
28:59 - Hey.
29:02 - Huh?
29:05 - Oh.
29:06 - Wow, that's effective from a distance.
29:08 - Tiny shard from a distance?
29:10 - Yeah.
29:10 - Oh no.
29:13 - Ooh, geez man.
29:20 - Not bad.
29:23 - Lois.
29:24 - It's you.
29:25 - You're the general.
29:26 Task force X.
29:29 Nemesis Omega Zero Day.
29:32 - Nice starticle.
29:33 - You know those words.
29:34 - Why did you say those words?
29:37 - Justice.
29:37 - It's all been you.
29:39 - Lois, there's so much more to this.
29:41 - Truly.
29:47 (grunting)
29:49 - Wowie.
29:56 - The rock that hurts Clark hurts the robots too.
29:59 - Oh no.
30:04 - Oh no.
30:04 - Damn.
30:07 - This is what happened on Zero Day.
30:09 That rock is the only thing that can destroy my ship
30:11 and close the portal.
30:13 - It'll kill you Clark.
30:15 - I love you and I can't lose you.
30:17 - Oh, you too.
30:21 - Oof.
30:29 - Dude.
30:34 - Cheaps.
30:42 (dramatic music)
30:45 - Again with that lensing effect.
30:50 - Yeah, and the escalation of stakes.
30:52 - Wow.
30:53 - Get out of there.
31:02 - Still going at him.
31:05 - Whoa.
31:09 (dramatic music)
31:12 - Ooh boy.
31:15 - Whoa.
31:19 - Kal-El, two for heart, balloon repeating.
31:23 - Cool.
31:27 - Yes.
31:28 - Kal-El, Kal-El, team up.
31:33 - Yeah.
31:35 - God, when's he gonna actually like know his name?
31:37 (dramatic music)
31:40 - Ooh, wow, that looks painful.
31:48 - Oof.
31:50 - Ah.
31:52 (dramatic music)
31:56 - Oof.
32:02 (dramatic music)
32:06 - Wowie.
32:08 (dramatic music)
32:10 - Yeah.
32:13 (dramatic music)
32:16 - There that is.
32:20 - What is happening to the Earth's like axis right now
32:23 as all these things crash into it?
32:25 - Just another statue next to the parasite statue.
32:27 - Kal-El, my son.
32:31 - Aw.
32:33 - Live.
32:35 (dramatic music)
32:37 - Whoa.
32:41 - Shot back to Earth all over again.
32:46 - Yep, same cradle.
32:48 (dramatic music)
32:50 - Cornfield jacked up.
32:55 (laughing)
32:57 - Yep.
32:58 - Be the hero, man.
33:02 - Stop.
33:05 - I need you to get out of the way, Lois.
33:08 - So you can murder the man who just saved us?
33:11 - I am doing this to protect you, Lois.
33:14 - Aw.
33:15 - That man risked everything to protect our world.
33:18 Let him go.
33:20 - General, what's your situation?
33:22 - I'm dead.
33:23 - False alarm.
33:25 Stand down.
33:27 - What?
33:28 (laughing)
33:33 - Dad, thank you, I--
33:35 - Aw, Batman.
33:37 - He definitely knows that's Clark now, right?
33:40 - They seem pretty close.
33:41 Pretty much recognized him before.
33:43 - Bringing in Ledbridge's parents now and all this.
33:45 - Still not to temp.
33:46 - Clark.
33:47 (laughing)
33:51 - Great, dinner is served.
33:54 - I almost didn't think we would get to dinner.
33:58 - You said you had something to share.
33:59 - I sold Flamebird to the Daily Planet for $5.6 million.
34:03 - What?
34:04 - I'm super rich now.
34:05 (laughing)
34:05 - What?
34:06 - Pass the yams, please.
34:09 - I'm rich now.
34:12 - Pass me my damn yams.
34:14 Oh, that's so good.
34:16 - Oh.
34:19 - Oh, oh yeah.
34:21 - Unexpected.
34:28 - Whoa.
34:32 - Getting a little dark side?
34:34 - They have destroyed our ships and closed our portals.
34:37 In the end, they will be all mine.
34:40 - Oh.
34:42 - Before dark side?
34:45 - I assume.
34:46 - Oh, interesting.
34:48 - Huh.
34:49 - I guess so many questions here at the end.
34:53 - What a big show.
34:54 - This is, yeah, man, this is a thick boy.
34:56 - Next season, Jimmy's rich.
34:58 (laughing)
35:01 - Out of nowhere, which is something that does happen.
35:03 He does come into lots of money sometimes in the comics,
35:05 which is always funny.
35:06 - Really?
35:07 - Oh yeah.
35:08 The Olsens have this rich history
35:09 that rivals the Luthers,
35:11 where the Olsens come in and have money and they lose it.
35:13 The Luthers, there's a rivalry between the Olsens
35:16 and the Luthers.
35:17 - I love that.
35:18 I think, I mean, I'm not an expert by any stretch,
35:22 but I love this Jimmy.
35:24 I really love this.
35:24 - I still think that Alex is Lex.
35:26 - I think that's gotta be likely,
35:28 and I'm glad it didn't happen here,
35:30 but I think the fact that they interviewed him.
35:32 - And they showed him in the last episode, like, sulking.
35:34 They cut to him.
35:35 - Yeah, he's like watching the live stream.
35:37 - And he's wearing purple, Lex Luthor's color.
35:40 - That's true.
35:41 - Red hair.
35:42 Historically, Lex Luthor's hair before he loses his hair.
35:45 - They're gonna let him keep the hair for like three seasons.
35:47 - But then they'll get a beard like John,
35:49 what's his name from Two Men and a Baby,
35:51 or what's that show?
35:52 Crier, John Crier?
35:54 - John Crier.
35:55 - Wasn't in the show.
35:55 Two and a Half Men.
35:56 - Two and a Half Good Men.
35:57 - Yeah, it's like Two Men and a Baby,
35:59 a half man, a little baby.
36:01 That's the show, he played Lex with a beard.
36:04 I enjoyed the hell out of this show.
36:05 It was very good.
36:06 - Yeah, I loved it.
36:08 This was like the joy of,
36:10 this really felt to me, again,
36:12 in my more limited experience,
36:14 like a compendium of a run,
36:18 where like you have a bunch of issues,
36:20 but they all amount to something,
36:21 which is why they got compounded into this one unit.
36:25 And yeah, there's plenty more to come.
36:27 You could dip in at any point and enjoy that one episode,
36:30 but there are, you got your two part events episodes.
36:34 Like, yeah, it's got a little bit of everything
36:36 that feels like a comic.
36:37 It's appropriately anime in a way
36:40 that I think is really nice and fun
36:42 and allows, again, for the familial aspects
36:45 of both anime, manga by extension, and comic books.
36:49 Here, it kind of celebrates all those things
36:52 in a way that coalesces in a really nice fashion.
36:55 And then two, it's just like a well-told story.
36:58 - Yeah, I completely agree with your assessment
37:00 of the trade paperback feel,
37:02 because it definitely feels like two trades
37:04 that are like a part one and part two.
37:05 That first half we watched kind of felt like
37:07 episodes one through four were one thing.
37:09 And that felt like a trade that was like,
37:10 you know, those issues, like you said,
37:11 that build to one arc.
37:13 But then the second half, which was like five, six,
37:15 seven, eight, nine, and 10,
37:16 felt like another arc that they'd go together well,
37:18 but you could just grab an issue.
37:20 And I really like that the tropes they used
37:22 from the comics were very approachable.
37:24 And the anime tropes, I was a little worried
37:26 it would get less approachable.
37:28 Like when they did the rocket power stuff,
37:29 like that's about as like big as I like.
37:33 Sometimes like animated shows get too big
37:35 and it feels like a fuss.
37:36 And like the sweat beads that anime do,
37:38 and then they like fall over like this,
37:39 had the sweat beads, but it was for like moments of tension.
37:42 They never had like the,
37:43 (imitates grunting)
37:43 It walked a very fine line that I liked.
37:45 - They did super restraint,
37:47 'cause it's like I can think of,
37:48 at least in these three episodes we watched today,
37:52 there's that bit with Vicky Vale
37:53 where they put in like the vignetted soft focus.
37:56 Like that's kind of an anime thing.
37:57 Or here, I think at one point when they're about to get,
38:00 when Perry's about to show them their front page,
38:03 you know, they've got the shoulder squiggle.
38:05 But it's like, they borrowed, yeah,
38:07 those cartoonish stylized anime tropes or flourishes,
38:11 but yeah, in like the most restrained way possible.
38:14 Like it's just sort of the art style.
38:16 And again, like some of the approach to,
38:17 especially like backgrounds and things,
38:19 where you'll have like Metropolis
38:20 and it's like you'll have this one layer
38:22 that's very detailed and then this one mid-layer.
38:23 - And the villains were definitely anime.
38:25 - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
38:26 And I think in a way that works,
38:28 but that felt more like an anime or again,
38:31 like Metal Gear, which is certainly--
38:33 - Yeah, definitely Metal Gear inspired.
38:34 - Like, you know, a lot of Japanese sci-fi fiction.
38:37 And so yeah, I liked having that Metal Gear aspect though.
38:40 And I think too, I can imagine it being something
38:43 that people might debate about.
38:45 Like I feel like that's a choice they made here,
38:47 which is you're gonna have a bunch of, you know,
38:50 one-off villains who eventually will have to team up
38:52 under the guise of Task Force X.
38:54 I thought that was very conscientious.
38:56 And even though I'm sure it's not everybody's favorite thing,
38:58 I liked what they're going for with,
39:02 okay, here's all this disparate Kryptonian tech
39:05 and we don't quite fully understand it.
39:07 And each of these guys now has a different ability
39:09 because of that.
39:10 And it seems like interaction with these devices
39:13 rubs off on everybody.
39:15 So, you know, while it's like you have,
39:17 is that Black Canary, you know, doing the shriek.
39:20 And like, that's not like an organic thing.
39:22 And I get why some people might--
39:23 - Oh, she was Siren here though.
39:24 - Or Siren, yeah, yeah, yeah, Siren.
39:26 You know, it's like I can understand people
39:28 not maybe loving that that's, you know--
39:30 - Tech-based. - A tech-based thing.
39:32 But for what they're doing here
39:33 and for the themes and everything,
39:34 and because it is Superman,
39:38 I thought that was kind of a neat and appropriate way
39:40 to tie that all together here.
39:41 Especially because this show doesn't feel burdened yet
39:44 by having to share with other shows.
39:45 - Any kind of duty, which I'm really enjoying.
39:47 - Yeah. - I cut you off.
39:48 What were you saying about the middle distance?
39:49 'Cause I didn't wanna lose my anime train of thought
39:51 with the villains, but the animation style,
39:53 foreground, background. - Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
39:54 You'll have like this really detailed,
39:56 like when he flies up over the city,
39:57 you know, it's like you'll have this detailed foreground
39:59 and then this kind of middle detail layer.
40:02 And then in the back, it's just kind of like white.
40:04 - Yeah. - And, you know,
40:05 outlines and stuff like that.
40:06 And things like that, I think, are again,
40:09 more toward the stylization of an anime.
40:12 - And when Clark was trapped
40:14 and like they're keeping his face vague,
40:16 they like let the sadness just be shapes,
40:18 which I liked. - Yeah.
40:18 - I thought that was a really good way to show emotion.
40:20 I like the characterization a lot.
40:22 Lois, her lack of journalistic skill
40:26 really worked once they explained the multiverse.
40:29 - Yes. - Because I was like
40:30 really bothered by like, they're working on the planet.
40:32 But like, this is not the Lois I know.
40:34 And I really think that made the whole show grow on me.
40:36 I think this is one of the better uses of multiverses
40:38 because not only did it improve the show's rules,
40:42 it does keep things separate.
40:43 And I'm then not comparing it to like,
40:46 well, that's not what happens.
40:47 That's not, like this isn't the character.
40:48 It gives me this beautiful carte blanche
40:50 to just like enjoy the thing.
40:52 So I think it does a really good job.
40:54 What you need in an Elseworld is the heart of the character,
40:57 whether it's subverting that heart or nailing it.
41:00 This nails it.
41:02 Like I love your Homelander and your Omni-Man.
41:04 And I've talked ad nauseum about how Clark has to be good
41:07 so those characters can exist.
41:09 This gets Clark.
41:10 So you feel, none of his decisions feel dumb.
41:14 He's not a dumb character.
41:15 And a lot of people think that being nice is being dumb
41:17 or being kind is being dumb.
41:19 And that's why Clark's important.
41:21 Like the reason we need-- - Being nice is hard.
41:23 - That's-- - Being kind is hard.
41:25 - And that's why Superman is so important
41:26 is because being kind is hard.
41:28 And we should look to that as a strength
41:30 that someone can be kind instead of seeing it as a weakness.
41:33 I think a lot of these fans of Superman
41:35 that see kindness as a weakness
41:37 don't understand the difficulty
41:39 and the importance of kindness
41:41 and they don't understand what Superman is.
41:43 And this show inherently gets Superman
41:45 more than 90% of the things I've seen of him
41:48 adapted into other mediums.
41:49 I was so impressed.
41:50 So many lines of dialogue,
41:51 obviously a lot of his actions, a lot of his decisions,
41:54 but they maintained this beautiful childlike wonder
41:57 that never felt dumb.
41:58 They maintained this beautiful kindness
42:00 that never felt like he was naive.
42:01 And the naivete that he did have
42:03 was earned by youth and Midwestern-ness, not dumbness.
42:08 - Yeah, totally. - So impressed.
42:09 - Yeah, no, absolutely.
42:11 - I'm not saying Midwestern people are dumb.
42:12 Don't come at me, Midwest.
42:13 I'm saying the kindness that comes
42:15 from living in the town versus the city.
42:17 Like there's an awareness of city life versus town life.
42:20 There's no preference there.
42:21 I just don't want the certain towns to come at me.
42:24 I love-- - No shade to nobody.
42:25 - No shade to nobody. - But yeah, no.
42:27 And I think they nicely embody his journey as a character,
42:32 like beyond all the Superman stuff.
42:33 He's still just a guy trying to make it
42:35 in the big city with his buds.
42:36 - And crushing on a girl.
42:37 - Yeah, and-- - Crush was great.
42:39 - Yeah, and coming of age and going through changes
42:42 and finding out about your pet.
42:44 Like there are lots of layers and things like that
42:46 that you could apply to various real-life moments for people.
42:50 And I think, yeah, like they never, ever lost sight
42:53 of the heart while still maintaining all of the action
42:56 and stuff that you want.
42:57 And I mean, like, you know, I'm curious
43:00 as to how the medium of animation is going to continue
43:04 to grow and warp in our current day and age.
43:07 'Cause part of me wonders during,
43:08 like I thought they did a really nice job with the action
43:10 and I thought they did a really nice job overall
43:12 really kind of gripping with those things.
43:14 Part of me wonders having seen some other anime,
43:16 like wow, what would some of these fights look like
43:19 if they had like demon slayer sources here, you know?
43:22 Or something like that.
43:23 But I never miss those things.
43:25 Or even moments where you're like, ah, you know this scene,
43:27 they're not doing as much like mouth movement.
43:29 - Sure.
43:30 - But like just the style and the approach
43:32 and the spirit that they're able to conjure.
43:34 And the fact too, like I like in storytelling like this,
43:38 I think too, because it's been so well trodden
43:40 and we know so many of the tropes,
43:42 when they really get right to the heart of a conflict
43:46 or when they establish a conflict, they go for it.
43:48 They don't go like, ah, this is gonna come back later.
43:50 - Nope, it's happening.
43:52 - Yeah, and it's like, you know,
43:53 we pulled the band-aid off of her learning
43:54 his secret identity.
43:55 We pulled the band-aid off of the multiverse.
44:00 We pulled the band-aid off of all this stuff at the end
44:03 with him meeting Sam and confronting all these circumstances
44:07 and various other things as well.
44:07 - I really was not expecting the last episode
44:08 to be that big.
44:09 I thought it'd be like a denouement.
44:10 'Cause I thought we'd have like the parasite episode
44:12 and then like that'd be our big action.
44:13 Then the last episode would be like,
44:15 and now we find out some peace
44:16 and then we go to the next season.
44:17 Like instead it was like, we got out of this conflict.
44:19 - And it was a great tease 'cause you have the prospect
44:21 of Thanksgiving dinner.
44:22 You think, whoa, we're gonna do something more
44:24 slice of life, more tense at home.
44:26 You know, more tense on a grounded scale, more Clark.
44:29 And then yeah, the Superman as so often happens
44:32 with these characters, intervenes on that
44:34 and there's no choice but to go do that stuff.
44:37 And I thought the way that they wrapped all that around
44:39 and then finally came back to dinner was really nice.
44:41 And yeah, you've got a solid conflict for Lois.
44:44 - And you called Sam from the jump, Sam Lane.
44:46 That was great.
44:47 That was a good call.
44:47 And it was a, I enjoyed the build.
44:50 I thought he was right about seven tenths the way in
44:53 and I was holding on to Deadshot.
44:55 But yeah, I really, really liked the same way twist.
44:57 I just thought it'd be interesting to have like a guy
44:58 that's like a guy and like, then you're like,
45:00 whoa, it's a guy that I know.
45:03 Like he's, especially when they gave him the gun.
45:05 I was like, what if he's really good shot?
45:06 - Yeah, no, totally.
45:08 - But I really liked the Sam Lane twist
45:10 'cause then it's the Norman Osborn thing.
45:11 It's the Adrian Tombs in Spider-Man, the new one.
45:16 I really enjoyed this.
45:17 This show's great.
45:18 Definitely in my upper tier of the DC animated stuff,
45:20 which is saying a lot, we joked earlier,
45:22 like they really don't miss.
45:23 Even the lower DC stuff is better than a lot of stuff.
45:26 It's very good and very loyal.
45:28 And these writers should perhaps work on the movies.
45:31 - Again, man, like Everett.
45:33 - The writers, the director, like the creative teams on these.
45:35 - I trust what James Gunn's doing.
45:36 I just want him to watch this and also to be like,
45:39 well, we're building this whole universe live action.
45:41 Maybe you guys can, yeah.
45:41 - Let's bring some of this talent here to consult.
45:42 - Maybe you guys come on over, you guys,
45:44 'cause this is Superman.
45:45 - Absolutely was, absolutely is.
45:48 - What did you think, Reject Nation?
45:49 I enjoyed the hell out of it.
45:50 Hopefully you enjoyed the heck out of it
45:52 'cause Superman wouldn't say hell.
45:54 He's a golly gee, swell boy.

46:25 It's Halloween in the stores already.
46:26 I went to Target today and it was very Halloweenish.
46:29 They were moving stuff around,
46:30 lots of candy around. - Capitalism has come.
46:31 - They're like, by the way, it's almost September 1.
46:33 - It's no more. - It sounds like
46:34 it's Halloween.
46:35 - No more two weeks when September turns into October
46:38 and then Christmas.
46:39 - What if August is still 100 degrees
46:41 but candy is melting in the aisles?
46:43 Bring it in, bring it in.
46:44 - I talked to the lady at Michael's last year.
46:46 I was like, when's peak Halloween?
46:48 And she's like, end of August.
46:49 'Cause we gotta get that shit outta here.
46:51 - That's insane. - During October.
46:53 I was like, it makes sense.
46:54 - I'm literally going to Halloween.
46:56 I got a preview night for Haunted House
46:58 on the 7th of September.
46:59 Not even October.
47:00 In a week I'm getting spooky.
47:02 - Yeah, I'm excited.
47:03 - I've already got three of my costumes figured out.
47:04 - Fall doesn't start till the 21st of September.
47:07 - Not in here, it's already started.

47:10 - Never, Coy.
