It's been quite a while, but here is my second video featuring a song by The Wake. The last one was "Sideshow" back at the beginning of August 2019. I consider this band to be among the best in the Gothic Rock/Darkwave genre, along with a few others like Ikon, Two Witches, Bauhaus, and Leaether Strip.
The Wake is an American gothic rock band from Columbus, Ohio, formed in 1986 and one of the many fine bands to eventually sign with the prestigious Cleopatra Records label in the 1990's. This track, "Watchtower 2.1, wHATEver Mix"," was originally released on the album Christine in early 1995 before later appearing on Goth's Undead in 1997 (love those Cleopatra Records compilations). The band continues to tour extensively in the US, Europe and Mexico. Currently the band is comprised of founding members Troy Payne and Richard Witherspoon along with drummer Daniel C. who joined in 1989 and keyboardist Robert Brothers who joined in 1990. What was intended to be their last single, Rusted, released in 2013, was followed by a seven-year hiatus, then new material was released again in 2020 on the album Perfumes and Fripperies followed by another album in late 2021, Mixers & Elixirs. The band continues to tour live.
Rosetta Stone are an English gothic rock band formed in the 1980's by Porl King (guitar/vocals/keyboards) and Karl North (bass), plus their drum machine and synthesizer rack nicknamed "Madame Razor". Their early style and first album reflected the jangly-guitar sounds of 1980's gothic rock. The band then moved to a more electronic sound before disbanding in 1998. After time spent on different music projects, new Rosetta Stone material appeared in 2019 and 2020.
