00:00 United Airlines recently stopped two teenagers from boarding a flight at
00:03 Denver International Airport because they were wearing leggings.
00:08 But seriously, did I miss something? Are we going back in time? If we can't wear
00:16 leggings, can I not wear ripped jeans? The pair were headed to Minneapolis and
00:22 were asked to change entirely or put skirts over their leggings, which is just
00:27 a fashion faux pas, okay? But seriously, people saw this happening and were not
00:31 happy about this at all. Shannon Watts, who's verified on
00:34 Twitter and who founded the gun control group, Moms Demand Action, was in the
00:38 airport waiting to board a flight to Mexico at a nearby gate when she noticed
00:41 what was going on. In a phone interview she did with the New York Times, she said
00:44 that she was at a neighboring gate and then went over because she saw a family
00:48 frantically dealing with a situation. There were two young girls, one of whom
00:52 was wearing leggings, and the gate agent was telling them, quote, "I don't make the
00:55 rules, I just enforce them." And that's when Shannon took to Twitter, tweeting
01:00 this. "@united they just boarded after being forced to change or put dresses on
01:04 over the top of their clothing. Is this your policy?" United then responded
01:08 defending their position. "The passengers this morning reunited past riders who
01:12 were not in compliance with our dress code policy for company benefit travel." So
01:16 supposedly, according to this policy, if you're a regular United flyer, yeah, you
01:20 could wear anything. Good to know. But if you're a past traveler, there are some
01:23 rules. And they're also kind of sexist because it seems like the girls have a
01:27 lot of rules, but the guys could pretty much wear anything they want except
01:30 flip-flops. And United continued to explain on Twitter, "@shannonrwatz there
01:34 is a dress code for past travelers as they are representing UA when they fly." A
01:39 lot of people were outraged by United's policy, calling it, as I mentioned, sexist,
01:43 but also saying that they were body shaming children.
01:45 Christy Fletcher, founder of the literary management company Fletcher & Company,
01:49 responded by tweeting, "You shouldn't allow children to use those passes if a
01:52 requirement is to wear business attire." And here's where it became the story of
01:56 the weekend when a ton of celebrities came into the conversation. Actress
01:59 Patricia Arquette tweeted, "Leggings are business attire for 10 year olds. Their
02:03 business is being children." And supermodel Chrissy Teigen joked, "I've flown United
02:07 before with literally no pants on, just top as a dress. Next time I will wear
02:11 only jeans and a scarf." Our favorite Seth Rogen also joined the conversation
02:15 tweeting this, "We here at United are just trying to police the attire of the
02:18 daughters of our employees. That's all. Cool, right?" He then even @replied United
02:23 and Sarah Silverman saying, "Yeah, they're only trying to treat the teenage
02:26 daughters of their employees like s**t, not everyone else." He's very active on
02:30 Twitter. But not everyone was against United's decision. Jonathan Marcus fired
02:34 back at Chrissy Teigen discussing the benefits of the program and what they
02:37 agreed to. Pass riders fly for free anywhere in the world. In return, all
02:41 United ask is to comply with a dress code. You must comply with dress code or
02:46 else. I love how PR4 policies and rules when you get it for free. It's like
02:51 you're getting things for free, so you got to do anything we want. Like how dare
02:56 you even fight back? Like Monica who says, "They were traveling on a free employee
03:00 pass. There are rules. Rules are rules." Yeah, rules can't be changed ever. Like
03:06 come on. They're rules. Look in the dictionary for what rules means. What do you
03:11 think about this rule and this whole crazy story? Are you gonna fly with
03:13 leggings on now? Let us know in the comments below. For more trends like these,
