00:04 >> So, is this your third time here?
00:05 You showing the guys around a little bit or?
00:07 >> Yeah, I've become a regular.
00:09 I love it out here, man.
00:10 It's cool, kind of get away from everything, but
00:12 get some time with the guys and just get to hang out.
00:15 >> I saw some guys were going up to the mountain lodge, some guys are fishing.
00:18 What's your activity out here?
00:20 >> Football.
00:20 >> [LAUGH]
00:22 >> Yeah, I haven't had much time,
00:23 honestly.
00:24 Just getting on the film, getting on the game plan.
00:26 Hopefully one of these nights we'll get to get some dinner or something,
00:29 go out like that, but it's been football right now.
00:31 >> How would you remember a sport coat and tie so you can eat on premises?
00:34 >> [LAUGH]
00:36 >> I'll have to get one out here
00:37 probably, yeah, but no, it's classy around here, man.
00:40 It's a cool atmosphere, it's just different.
00:41 >> How would you describe your leadership style?
00:43 >> Just being myself.
00:46 I think trying to set the example by what you do.
00:49 Not exactly what you say,
00:50 just you gotta show the guys that you're willing to do it.
00:52 And I think that's the best way to do it.
00:55 Having a live game now, being out there with the guys, being in the huddle.
00:57 You get to see what guys are made of, see in those big moments,
01:01 you look in the guy's eyes and you can see who wants it and things like that.
01:04 It's just the way we're growing right now.
01:06 >> I know it seems like an obvious thing, but
01:07 how important is it to be a leader as a quarterback?
01:09 Is that something that you just have to have in you?
01:11 Is it something you have to learn?
01:12 I guess where do you pick it up, that kind of thing?
01:14 >> Yeah, I think I didn't grow up playing quarterback.
01:16 I think it's kind of something that you learn throughout your experiences.
01:20 Everyone's a little different.
01:22 Everyone kind of does it their own way.
01:23 You don't want to be fake with it, that's one thing I've learned.
01:26 You gotta be yourself, you gotta be real and let these guys know who you are.
01:28 I mean, they'll see through the fakeness.
01:30 >> Jimmy, you've got Hunter, who's an all pro, who didn't get any catches but
01:34 didn't care, you won.
01:36 Jacoby gets more than Devonta, he doesn't care.
01:39 It is rare, especially at wide receiver,
01:41 to have guys that aren't prima donnas, it's all about the team.
01:43 How special is that on the Raiders?
01:46 >> It's big time, it's big time.
01:47 They're a great group of guys, fun group to be with.
01:50 They all pull for each other.
01:51 I mean, it's even in the run game.
01:52 I mean, you see those guys going in, crack blocking safeties.
01:55 That takes some commitment as a receiver and we got a good group of guys, man.
01:58 They're fun to mesh with.
02:01 I think our relationships are just growing every day out here.
02:04 But we're in a good spot and those guys pull for each other.
02:07 That's what makes it fun out here.
02:08 >> After the interception in the end zone, I don't know if you saw it,
02:10 your whole defense was up cheering, like it's okay, we got this.
02:15 That's rare on a team.
02:16 What is that like on this team, that unity?
02:19 >> It's big time.
02:21 It's something that I take great pride in that.
02:24 I like having the team.
02:25 When the defense is out there, you don't get to see everything, but
02:27 we try to be up there, see the big plays that they make.
02:30 And that's what this game's all about.
02:32 When you separate offense and defense and special teams,
02:34 that's when it gets a little dicey.
02:35 But we got a good group, man.
02:38 We're still learning each other, figuring each other out, but
02:41 we're off to a good start and we just gotta keep it rolling now in Buffalo.
02:44 >> There's a stat where like down four to eight points in the fourth quarter,
02:46 your numbers up there with Mahomes and Drew Brees.
02:49 Do you notice a difference in yourself in those moments?
02:50 Do you look back and think of those things change for
02:53 you in those moments of games?
02:55 >> Nothing really changes.
02:56 Maybe things around me change, but you just gotta be the same guy,
02:59 especially as the quarterback.
03:00 I mean, you step in that huddle, guys are looking at you, you're calling the play.
03:04 You don't get many of those moments, man.
03:06 So you gotta make them count and just try and make each one of them count.
03:09 >> Yeah, the pass protection graded out very well in the first game.
03:13 But a lot of those guys said, hey, that's a lot of Jimmy too.
03:15 I guess what can a quarterback do to kinda help the pass protection in front of you?
03:19 >> I think having a plan pre-snap, knowing where you wanna go with the ball,
03:23 being quick with it, all those little things.
03:25 I mean, they gave me clean pockets all day and that makes it real easy.
03:29 But when you can get the ball in on time and
03:31 you're playing in unison with the O-line and backs.
03:33 I mean, the backs did a great job.
03:34 Josh had a couple big blocks, chip blocks by the Titans, all those things.
03:38 It's really all tied together.
03:40 >> Obviously, your eyes are downfield, you don't see it during the game.
03:43 But when you watch the film, did you notice how physical your offensive line was?
03:47 I mean, there was a couple times it was a beat down.
03:49 >> Yeah, I mean, I heard it a couple times in pass pro.
03:52 You don't even know exactly who it is or what's happening, but
03:56 you could feel that collision, I guess you wanna say.
04:00 But yeah, I mean, as a quarterback, man, you love having guys like that.
04:03 They're willing to put it on the line, just play after play.
04:05 That's what makes a good football team.
04:07 >> As a captain and a leader, what are some things you say to Michael?
04:10 Cuz he's gonna end up being a key part of this offense as he grows.
04:14 What are you doing to help him?
04:15 >> Just trying to teach him the intricacies.
04:17 I think tight end in this offense, there's a lot of little nuances that go unnoticed.
04:21 Going back to Rob Gronk, Gronk was awesome at it.
04:25 He knew the plays, he knew what we were trying to do.
04:28 And I think Mike, and along with the other Titans, they're all kinda learning that.
04:32 And once they get that down, we'll be in a good spot.
04:34 And I think he's done a great job so far.
04:36 And it's tough as a rookie to play that first game, man.
04:38 So I was proud of him on Sunday.
04:40 >> You just put a lot of too tight ends, so Hunter wasn't in there that much.
04:43 But where's your kind of chemistry with him?
04:45 Where's your, as you kind of develop that relationship with him out there?
04:47 >> It's been good.
04:48 I thought we had a good training camp together.
04:50 It's got a good feel for the offense, for the space that we're trying to get it into.
04:54 That's kind of what I'm saying with the tight ends.
04:57 He knows what the whole field is doing,
04:58 what everyone that we're trying to get on each play, and he has a feel for it.
05:02 So when you have a guy like that, it's almost like having a quarterback play a receiver.
05:06 >> Going back to Mayor, what have been your impressions so far,
05:08 things he does well?
05:09 >> He's very physical, very physical.
05:11 I think that's where it starts, especially with the tight ends.
05:13 He's got to set the tone with those DNs.
05:16 Does a good job with that.
05:17 He understands what we're trying to do.
05:18 Just some of these rookie mistakes, simple things.
05:22 We all got to fix little things, but no, he's got the right attitude for it.
05:25 It's not easy as a rookie.
05:27 >> I asked you earlier in camp about having lost football.
05:30 Do you come back more appreciative?
05:31 And I saw something Sunday.
05:33 I've never seen you smile that much.
05:35 Was it just fun to be back competing?
05:38 >> Yeah, yeah, it was.
05:39 It felt like a lifetime ago I played, man.
05:42 So it was good to get back out there, get those juices flowing in the crowd.
05:46 You can't hear anything at the last scrimmage.
05:47 It's those moments that you live for as a quarterback, especially.
05:50 That's the fun stuff.
05:53 >> You guys all good?
05:53 >> Yeah.
05:54 >> All good? >> Thanks, sir.
05:55 >> All right.
