00:00 Assalamualaikum, my name is Arbaa Binti Ali.
00:05 My family calls me Sham.

00:11 Hello, I am Fatima Nouria.
00:14 Listening to Arbaa Ali or Sham and her 15-year-old daughter
00:18 Fatima Nouria Muhammad Nour Qasijan speak Mandarin is fascinating
00:23 and it reflects the beauty of multicultural Malaysia.
00:27 Especially when Sham reveals that they even converse in Mandarin at home.
00:32 Sham, who was educated in a Chinese school,
00:42 recalls experiencing the Malaysian spirit of Muhyibah there,
00:47 although she was the only Malay girl in her class.
00:51 When I was in school, my teacher didn't look at my looks.
00:55 If not, I wouldn't be like this.
00:58 Because he gave me full support and encouragement.
01:03 And also my Chinese friends,
01:07 when I started to make friends with them,
01:10 they are very, very, very, very kind to me.
01:14 It was no surprise then that later in life,
01:17 Sham and her husband sent Fatima to a Chinese school.
01:21 According to the duo, speaking Mandarin has been beneficial,
01:25 and for Sham, it was an advantage when she applied for jobs.
01:29 For Fatima, a gifted singer,
01:32 speaking Mandarin has opened doors for her to join talent events overseas,
01:37 such as Let's Sing Kids in China and Jungle Voice 2 in Taiwan.
01:43 你问我爱你有多深 You ask me how deep my love for you is
01:50 我爱你有几分 How much I love you
01:56 我的情不变 My love doesn't change
01:59 我的爱不变 My love doesn't change
02:02 月亮代表我的心 The moon represents my heart
02:11 Fun fact, Sham's sons speak a little Mandarin too.
02:15 Being such a unique Malaysian family,
02:18 the mother and daughter share what unity means to them.
02:21 Whether you are Malaysian, Chinese or Indian,
02:24 we have to unite together
02:28 for the future of Malaysia.
02:33 For us to move forward together,
02:35 and for us to live a peaceful and happy life for Malaysia.
