00:03 As you can imagine, the family has experienced a lot of emotion and that is why they will
00:08 not be giving a further statement.
00:11 You all have seen the official statement and press release that was given yesterday and
00:14 that is still as it stands.
00:16 Today has been a real challenge for the family to see somebody and I think in that sense
00:21 they would just respect their privacy at this time.
00:24 We really want to stress that this is a historic moment for this country and this case is quite
00:29 unprecedented and we really want people to know the importance of challenging the institutional
00:34 racism that we see and continue to see within policing in this country which is intergenerational,
00:39 it's installable, there's a lot of harm and pain that needs to be repaired.
00:43 I would just ask that you respect those particular remarks and respect the family.
00:51 The media will know that over the past year whilst the family have been campaigning, they've
00:55 been extremely giving of their time, they've spoken to you whenever you have asked them
01:00 to, they've allowed you to join their protests and everything in between.
01:05 But for a whole year they've been campaigning rather than moving and it's very important
01:10 now that you give them that time, especially with the difficulties they've had today.
01:14 So we ask that you direct any queries to the campaign team who are here and that you make
01:20 sure that you please, please allow the family to have this time over the next few months
01:25 whenever it's decided that the trial will be, it can be a difficult time for them but
01:31 I do think they have been very, very giving to you and we ask that you allow them.
