Two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate's Court in Ipoh on Friday (Sept 22) to a charge of raping a 14-year-old girl.

00:17 The offences were allegedly committed at a house in Kampung Sindhu at 4.30pm on September
00:22 15 and 9.30am on September 16.
00:27 Charged under section 376 subsection 1 of the Penal Code, they faced jail of up to 20
00:33 years and whipping upon conviction.
00:35 During mitigation, Muhammad Kazali Yin, who represented both accused, asked for a lower
00:40 bill and said the 16-year-old's mother was a teacher while his father was a lorry driver.
00:46 As for the 17-year-old accused, his 44-year-old mother is unemployed while his father passed
00:52 away in 2020.
00:54 He added that the boy was the eldest of five siblings and the mother is relying on her
00:58 late husband's sok-sok benefits.
