The Health Ministry is looking to roll out a cloud-based Hospital Information System (HIS) across its facilities starting this year, says deputy health minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni.

During Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Feb 13), Lukanisman also highlighted that since July 2024, 33 "wellness hubs" - one-stop centers provide comprehensive services, including health screenings, nutritional advice, mental health support, and more, have been operating nationwide.

00:00The burden of patients in the hospital is a challenge for health in Malaysia.
00:07And there are also several factors that cause the burden of patients in the hospital
00:13is with the increase in the number of patients who come to the hospital.
00:20And also under the initiative of the National Malaysia Sehat Agenda, ANMS,
00:24Wellness Hub was established in an effort to improve the health and well-being of the community.
00:30At the moment, we have 33 Wellness Hubs operating throughout the country,
00:36which started on July 2024.
00:39Patients in health facilities can be referred to the Wellness Hub through the MyVas system,
00:45while public can make an appointment with the MySejahtera application.
00:49And at this time, 18,807 people have used the MySejahtera application to get an appointment.
00:57The capacity of the Wellness Hub clients has been increased proactively
01:01through outdoor activities through Wellness on Wheels.
01:06And also the number of Wellness Hubs has been expanded to the entire area in Malaysia,
01:11including adding the number of health education officers in the field of applied science
01:16to ensure a more effective delivery of services.
01:20And also through the effort of KKM to transform the digital health system,
01:24the implementation of the Cloud-based Hospital Information System, HIS,
01:28in health facilities will be implemented in the first three years of this year
01:34and is expected to be complete by 2028.
01:37Digitalization of the entire health system through the use of Electronic Medical Records, EMR,
01:43based on public computing, is one of the strategic steps by KKM
01:48to handle the burden of patients in hospitals,
01:51as well as to increase the efficiency of treatment and management of patients.
01:55And also in response to the Ministry's latest plan
01:59on the increasing issue of patient burden in government hospitals,
02:02one of the initiatives that is being carried out is to address the increasing issue of patient burden in government hospitals,
02:09including implementing the Hospital Cluster initiative
02:12to increase the delivery of specialized services to the public and the community.
02:18Implementing the Hospital Services Outsourcing Programme, HSOP,
02:23which is the outsourcing of patients from KKM hospitals
02:28to facilitate the provision of private health care
02:31to reduce patient waiting times to get certain procedures
02:35in the provision of cardiology, cardiothoracic, nephrology and radiology.
02:40The next is the Public-Private Collaboration Project
02:43implemented to reduce patient waiting times for medical treatment.
02:47And the last is the provision of Value-Added Services
02:50by the Pharmacy Unit and the provision of virtual consultation clinics
02:55to reduce the burden in clinics.
02:57The Ministry of Health also introduces the use of Artificial Intelligence
03:02to carry out diagnoses,
03:04and this is also one of the initiatives to reduce patient burden in government hospitals.
