00:00 It is expected that there will be a shortage of businessmen and buyers.
00:04 This is because President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has stopped the local government from paying
00:11 the travelers for goods and commodities so that they can pass through their luggage.
00:17 The Central News from Kenneth Paciente.
00:20 In order to ensure the proper flow of goods and services to different regions of the country,
00:27 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. suspended the collection of pass-through fees.
00:33 Under Executive Order No. 41, LGUs are now prohibited from collecting toll fees
00:39 on vehicles carrying passengers and passing through national roads and other main roads,
00:46 as well as the prohibition of the collection of sticker fees, discharging fees, delivery fees,
00:51 mayor's permit fees, and other fees currently being collected on motor vehicles passing through
00:57 local public roads that were built and funded by LGUs.
01:01 The EO noted that the effect of the pass-through fee on transportation and logistic costs
01:07 is usually transferred to consumers who are paying additional prices for goods.
01:15 So in order to reduce the public's burden, the government should mandate a proper value and supply chain
01:21 and reduce the cost of food logistics, which plays a major role in balancing the country's inflation.
01:28 The EO also noted that the assistance of the national government and LGUs is important
01:34 in effectively addressing inflation and in mitigating the economic downturn in each region.
01:40 The DILG has ordered the collection of copy of the ordinances of LGUs on pass-through fees,
01:46 while DTI, DOTR, DPWH, ARTA, and DOF will evaluate the ordinances.
01:54 Administrative and disciplinary sanctions will not be affected by the directive.
