00:00The Department of Agriculture or DA announced earlier today a moratorium on all poultry products coming from France in the wake of its
00:08declaration of an avian influenza outbreak on August 7. The ban announced today is a timely move
00:15pre-empting the entry or import of birds and their byproducts from France that may for all intents and purposes
00:21carry the dreaded virus. DA Chief Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. asserted in his latest statement on the matter.
00:29Department of Agriculture memo order number 40 covers the importation of wild or domesticated
00:35birds or the shipment of live poultry, poultry products and or their byproducts to include day-old chicks or semen.
00:43Likewise the issuance of sanitary and phytosanitary
00:47import clearances from the Bureau of Animal Industry or BAI is also put on hold for shipments originating from France. Roughly
00:54151,000 kilograms of poultry products from France have have been brought into the country from January to August of this year.
