00:03 and we want to take a second to talk about the odd stuff,
00:06 the things you don't see everywhere else.
00:08 We're calling it the Frankfurt Fringe
00:09 and instead of all those fancy show cars
00:11 that you see in all of our other videos,
00:12 this is the stuff you wouldn't otherwise hear about.
00:15 And I want to start you with the Borgward VX7.
00:17 Now, Borgward was a German car company like 60 years ago.
00:20 They went bankrupt, nobody's even heard of them anymore,
00:23 but they're back, they got Chinese money now,
00:25 they got an SUV and it looks all right.
00:28 It might have a plug-in hybrid.
00:29 There's kind of a question we're asking here
00:31 is this company was gone for over 50 years
00:34 and nobody's heard of it,
00:35 so was anybody really asking for Borgward to come back?
00:39 Do we need another SUV on an already crowded market?

00:44 and I'm here at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show
00:47 with my pick, the European spec Honda CR-V.
00:51 Back at home, I drive the Motortrend long-term CR-V
00:55 and this one has a few features that I would love to see
00:58 on the American market car,
00:59 including this giant panoramic sunroof
01:03 that bathes the entire cabin in light
01:05 from the first to the second row.
01:07 It's also got HID headlights,
01:09 which you can't buy at any price on the American market CR-V.
01:13 And then there's the diesel engine.
01:15 It has a 1.6 liter turbo diesel,
01:17 which gives it a zero to 62 mile per hour time
01:20 of 10.4 seconds.
01:22 Might prove to be an interesting second model.

01:48 So this is basically a design study
01:50 and a project contest between Honda Design Studios
01:54 and it's powered by a motorcycle engine.
01:56 It's totally nuts.
01:57 And it's just a fun car that you wish Honda
01:59 would have in its lineup,
02:00 but it's never gonna make it to the lineup as a real car.
