00:00 We are at Dynatrack. This is Jim McGean from Dynatrack. I've known Jim for probably 13 years now.
00:05 The very first time I met Jim we were here at Offroad Expo and I walked into the Dynatrack booth.
00:09 There was this guy working the booth. I was just like, "Oh, here's this guy from Dynatrack."
00:13 I started asking all these crazy questions about, "Why don't you do this and you should make this?
00:16 Why don't you make that?" And then I left. And Jim was like, "Who in the world was that guy?"
00:20 But 13 years later Jim's still making really cool stuff. What's new from Dynatrack?
00:25 Well Fred, this is our ProRock XD60. This is our latest and greatest ProRock housing.
00:32 It's a new generation of the ProRock. Now it's new and improved.
00:36 A lot of the things that I wanted to do for a long time, we finally got them in here.
00:41 Just to give you a quick tour, because there's a number of things.
00:44 First of all, we focused on the weight of the housing.
00:47 You remember the old ProRock was originally designed in the days of Leaf Spring.
00:52 So we were able to slim down the housing.
00:55 We also did a lot of engineering and analysis to get the weight out of it.
00:59 So it's considerably lighter than the old ProRock housing.
01:02 The other thing that we did was we integrated the upper control arm mount,
01:06 because that's real popular today. Obviously there's no more Leaf Spring cars to speak of.
01:11 It's all mostly coil spring and people need a control arm attaching point.
01:15 This allowed us to remove that upper structure that we used to have
01:18 that supported the old control arm mounts.
01:21 What's been happening with JKs over the last five to seven years.
01:25 Basically, the cars have gotten heavier. They're bigger.
01:29 A lot of folks are adding bumpers, winches, body armor.
01:32 So the cars themselves. It's not uncommon for us to see a JK Unlimited weighing well over 7,000 pounds.
01:38 That's a lot. The weight of the cars is going up. The tire size is going up.
01:42 And brakes have been an issue.
01:44 So having driven JKs myself in many situations,
01:48 there's times when I'm doing a hill descent, if there's something very steep such as a Moab,
01:53 or a hill ascent, and I may not make that hill ascent,
01:57 and I really got to use both feet to keep the car from going backwards.
02:01 So, you know, we wanted to make it a lot easier.
02:04 We wanted to kind of get the braking of a JK back to where you put your big toe on the corner of the brake pedal,
02:09 and you put some pressure, and you come to a nice, firm, comfortable stop.
02:13 So that's what this ProGrip brake kit is achieving for people.
02:17 We also did a lot of dyno testing on brake linings,
02:20 and that's really where the secret sauce is in this kit.
02:24 So we really focused on that. So these are Dynatrack brake pads.
02:28 They are using stock calipers.
02:32 They are using stock calipers. We give you a new caliper bracket. We give you new rotors.
02:36 This is a four-wheel kit. It's not a two-wheel kit.
02:39 So there's four rotors, four caliper brackets, four sets of brake pads, and some hardware.
02:45 So it's easy to install. You don't have to break into the hydraulic system and worry about bleeding
02:50 or changing the hydraulic system in any way. All stays the same.
02:53 You get the majority of the stopping power is coming from the secret sauce of the linings, not the bigger rotors,
02:59 which was, you know, most people would think wasn't the case, but that's the way it works.
03:02 So you got brakes. You got axles. Looks like you guys are doing a lot of cool stuff over at Dynatrack.
03:07 I can't wait to see what you're doing in the next 13 years.
03:09 Yeah, me neither, Fred. We're gonna see it.
03:10 Thanks, Jim. Have a good show.
03:12 13 years later.
