00:00 proud of the guys for, you know, we had two tough weeks.
00:04 I think in a lot of ways it was kind of a gut check for
00:09 our guys just to come out and play like they did.
00:13 I think it shows a lot about who they are and really proud of them.
00:16 And it wasn't perfect, it wouldn't always go pretty, but
00:20 the guys played really hard and tough and we played better football.
00:24 Still turned it over a couple of times, we've got to get that fixed.
00:28 But it had some silly penalties that we've got to continue to improve on.
00:33 I mean, I just love the way they played.
00:35 Played hard, I thought our coaches really did a good job of preparing.
00:40 BYU is gonna make you throw the football, a lot of head and front,
00:46 single high, safety.
00:47 And so I think that was a smart game plan by them.
00:52 They have a quarterback that's never started a football game and
00:56 Josh Huber that they were defending.
00:58 And what can you say about Josh?
01:00 I thought he played incredibly well, not surprised.
01:06 I mean, he's the most prepared player on our team.
01:09 I'm just really proud of the plays that he showed.
01:12 Thought he was, never got rattled, game was never too big for him.
01:17 What can you say?
01:20 I just thought he had a great performance and
01:24 how did we drop six balls?
01:25 So a lot of stuff we can improve on and get better at, but
01:33 getting really proud of his performance.
01:35 Saw our offensive line protected really, really well.
01:39 Gave him a chance to stay clean.
01:40 And it was good, I thought we had a bunch of guys make plays,
01:45 which we needed to see him do it.
01:46 And just proud of the performance and
01:50 I thought defensively I thought we played outstanding.
01:53 BYU is a really good offense, they can throw the heck out of the ball.
01:56 Thought we did a really, really good job not giving up big plays,
02:00 pressuring the quarterback.
02:02 Just a good performance, so again, really proud of our team.
02:06 A lot of these guys here, the stuff and the talk and
02:10 all the things because of social media.
02:12 I appreciate them because they never bleeped and came out and played well.
02:19 And it's a good football team.
02:21 This is a four on one team, this is a team that beat Arkansas, Arkansas.
02:24 I thought we did a good job, I thought the guys played well.
02:30 >> As you said, it wasn't perfect, but
02:31 you feel like this might have been the most complete game you guys played?
02:34 >> Certainly, yeah, for sure, for sure, because this was a quality football team.
02:37 You know what I mean?
02:39 Yes, I thought we did what we needed to do to win the game.
02:43 And like I said, I wish it was cleaner.
02:45 We just haven't played that clean game yet.
02:47 But we were able to overcome it today and made a couple of mistakes.
02:51 But the thing that we did consistently is we made plays on third down.
02:54 You know what I mean?
02:55 We got behind the chains, we got the penalty, we dropped the ball,
02:58 something happened.
02:59 And Josh did an unbelievable job in our offense, and
03:02 I did an unbelievable job of protecting on third and long.
03:04 And we were able to convert a bunch of those and keep drives alive and
03:07 score points.
03:08 And I thought Griffin really kicked the ball well,
03:11 kicked it with a lot of confidence tonight.
03:12 And it was certainly headed in the right direction.
03:18 When we weren't there yet, we were capable of playing a lot better.
03:22 I mean, we lined up wrong, covered up the tight end twice.
03:26 And we did some stuff that still kind of makes you wonder why we're doing it.
03:33 But we were able to overcome it cuz we made plays and
03:36 again we protected and threw the ball and guys caught the ball.
03:39 And we were able to just kind of get that stuff fixed, very able to overcome it.
03:43 >> What do you think was the most impressive thing Josh did today?
03:49 >> I think just, he's just here all the time.
03:53 You know what I mean?
03:54 He's just, he knows what to do.
03:57 There are very few times that you say, well, he should have done this or
04:00 he made a bad read here or he didn't throw this ball.
04:04 And we put a lot of the quarterback, you know what I mean?
04:07 There's a lot of stuff these quarterbacks have to do.
04:09 And he just prepares so well that you expect him to go out there and
04:13 do what he does in practice because he just makes good decisions.
04:18 And he's incredibly prepared and works hard.
04:21 And as I said, we get in the building at 5 AM and he's here most of the time.
04:28 You know what I mean?
04:29 When we leave a lot of times at 8 or 9 at night, he's still here.
04:33 And so the dude is, he puts in the work and the hours and the time.
04:39 No, it's what you want.
04:41 >> Coach, on that drive where he threw that touchdown pass in the warm,
04:45 there was a play, maybe a play before or a couple of plays before,
04:48 where he threw a low to JP on the second line.
04:51 >> Yeah. >> That was an amazing throw.
04:52 Has he made those kind of throws ever since he got to campus or
04:55 is that something you guys are gonna see?
04:57 >> Yeah, I think it comes from confidence.
05:00 You know what I mean?
05:00 It comes from confidence and reps, knowing where JP's gonna be.
05:03 And cuz when you do that, when you kind of leave the pocket, you throw the ball,
05:07 you're really relying on the receiver to get to the right spot.
05:10 A lot of times we're throwing to a spot.
05:12 And I thought that was a heck of a throw and
05:14 JP did a great job making a play and that's reps.
05:18 That's reps and that's work.
05:21 I think like anything, he's a young player.
05:25 He's still developing and learning and
05:28 his arms continue to get stronger and stronger.
05:32 And as he gets more and more confident, so much of that is just confidence and
05:36 throwing on a good platform and being strong in your hips.
05:38 And he's really improved in all those areas.
05:41 I mean, you guys in the last year have seen his body change physically.
05:45 He's different.
05:46 And I thought he did a great job on that first drive in the third quarter,
05:50 converting the third down.
05:51 That was a huge run that he had right there to get that first down in the third
05:55 quarter, which allowed us to go down the score.
05:58 And still had some red zone blows at times today.
06:04 But I thought, I think it'll be good for us to learn from it.
06:09 I think we'll execute better.
06:11 The one that got me was, we got what we wanted with Jack Batchel on the fourth
06:16 down and we went for it early in the game.
06:18 And we just didn't make the play on the ball.
06:22 But there's lots of opportunities out there that we still left out there.
06:26 But the good thing is, we were able to win pretty comfortably,
06:29 even making some mistakes.
06:31 And yeah, I think we'll learn from those.
