1988 adverts - FA Cup Final

  • last year
The adverts that were broadcast during the 1988 FA Cup Final between Wimbledon and Liverpool. There are a number of famous faces that pop up during the break, including Nigel Havers and Rumpole himself, Leo McKern, Keith Floyd, Griff Rhys Jones, Alan Sugar, plus Captain Beaky's (aka Keith Michell) daughter Helena Michell, who was a familiar face in TV in the 80's and 90's. Please be warned (ho ho!) that the credits for the ad breaks "may give away the result of the 1988 FA Cup Final." There are 3 ad breaks, and the commercials are as follows:
1st break: Evening Standard newspaper cartoon; Budweiser beer (Half Moon Pub); Racal Vodaphone (Kid locked in car - Helena Michell); Saab 9000 CD car (Cold War ad); and McDonalds Big Mac offer.
2nd break: Lloyds Bank (Restaurant - Leo McKern & Nigel Havers); Vauxhall Cavalier SI car ("I'm Not Going" dinner); Sunday Express (Keith Floyd's cookery); and Alan Sugar DTI Enterprise advert.
3rd break: One-Cal drink (Beach couple); Romany Creams biscuits; Holsten Pils beer (Griff Rhys-Jones in Marilyn Monroe ad); Zanussi electric cookers (Camping couple sees alien craft); Trusthouse Forte (Leisurebreak couple); Clerical Medical (Performance Pensions), and Black & Decker (CF Strimmer).
