00:00 Well, clearly these are disappointing results for the Conservatives.
00:04 Clearly there were legacy issues in both of those constituencies, if you like, the reason
00:09 for having those by-elections which long predated Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister, but I'm not
00:15 denying the fact these are disappointing results for the party.
00:18 People think that Rishi Sunak is doing a good job overall as Prime Minister, that there
00:22 are some issues from the Conservative Party from last year and years before, but nonetheless
00:27 people think Rishi is doing a good job and the key question in the next general election
00:32 will be who is best placed to take the country forward, to see change, is it Rishi Sunak
00:38 or is it Sikhir Starmer and Labour and that is all still to play for, I think, for next
00:44 year's general election.
00:45 But most importantly we're looking forward to winning these two constituencies back at
00:49 the next general election.
00:52 These were both low-turnout by-elections, obviously people wanted to send a message,
00:56 an important message to the government, but we're looking forward to fighting again and
01:01 winning these two constituencies back at next year's general election.
