00:00 We go live to Mexico as the heads of state participate in the important migration summit
00:10 held in Chiapas, continuing with their agenda for the day.
00:15 It's an important summit that is being carried out right now in Chiapas, Mexico, with the
00:22 aim of addressing the migratory flows that have reached unprecedented levels.
00:28 We are watching images from Mexico as the Venezuelan president and other officials are
00:35 taking part in this walk of the Archaeological Center of Chiapas as part of the agenda, of
00:42 the work agenda, of this summit that was convened by the Mexican President, Andrés Manuel López
00:49 Obrador.
00:50 It is an important summit that the Mexican head of state convened so that they, together,
00:55 the countries of the region, can create a joint proposal that favors the situation to
01:02 tackle the issues from the roots, to tackle the reason why this year we have, these countries
01:09 are seeing an unprecedented number of migrations, leaving the country, traveling to Mexico to
01:14 try to reach the United States.
01:16 We're seeing the images of the Mexican President López Obrador addressing the different heads
01:21 of states that are present during this tour of the Archaeological Site of Chiapas as part
01:27 of the agenda of this summit that is being held in Mexico.
01:33 In previous days, the Mexican President addressed that the reasons, in many cases, for these
01:39 migratory flows that are unprecedented are not the lack of opportunities.
01:46 Opportunities in the countries affect the reasons, affect the decisions of the people,
01:51 and also, for example, in the case of Cuba and Venezuela, he made special note of the
01:56 coercive sanctions imposed against these two countries by the United States that affect
02:02 directly the people and force them to travel abroad to look for better opportunity for
02:07 them and their families.
02:12 As we were mentioning, this is part of the work agenda of the summit that was convened
02:17 by the Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and Venezuelan President, Colombian
02:22 President Gustavo Petro, they're all there taking part of this tour of the Archaeological
02:26 Site that is being led by the Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
02:32 It is a summit, as we have been addressing, that will deal and try to find a solution
02:38 to tackle the unprecedented migratory flows that have come from the different constable
02:43 regions that travel to Mexico with the attempt to reach the United States, which has created
02:51 a great migratory crisis that has not been seen in years in the region.
03:00 We continue to see the images of the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, as he toured
03:10 as part of the working agenda of this Archaeological Site.
03:17 From here, they will carry on to the summit, which will be closed for the public, but it
03:23 is expected that later in the day at 2 p.m. local time in Mexico, 4 p.m. Caracas time,
03:29 we will have access to a press conference where the participants will express the points
03:36 that they reached and what they discussed on this key summit held in Mexico, convened
03:41 by the Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
03:57 The main issue is that 11 heads of state are present here in Mexico for this summit held
04:02 in Chiapas, and the idea is to try to reach a consensus, a joint plan of action to tackle
04:10 the unprecedented migratory flows that have hit the region.
04:14 As the Mexican President said on several occasions, in many cases people are traveling illegally,
04:22 at broad risk in their lives and their families, just to try to look for better opportunities,
04:28 because at times security and economic crisis are the ones affecting them.
04:32 He made special mention of the cases of the effects of the unilateral, coercive and illegal
04:39 sanctions imposed by the United States against several countries in the region, like Cuba
04:44 and Venezuela, and how they affect directly the people and their economies and are unable
04:51 to develop, and so they have to do these dangerous trips across borders to try to find new opportunities
05:01 and try to reach a new destination that can help them out in their lives.
05:07 What we are currently seeing on the images are the tours that the participants of this
05:13 summit took earlier in the day, before entering the summit, by the archaeological site of
05:20 Chiapas, seeing ancient pyramids built in pre-colonial times by the civilizations that
05:30 inhabited the region.
05:34 Mexico is a rich country in terms of culture.
05:43 The participants of the summit are learning all this history first-hand from specialized
05:49 guides and officials that are there doing the presentations, as we are seeing on the
05:53 images.
05:54 This is all part of the work agenda, as we have been mentioning several times, that the
06:04 11 heads of state present and represented from organizations are here to try to find
06:10 a solution to the migratory crisis that is affecting the region.
06:15 A summit that was convened by the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel López Obrador.
06:35 Images of different archaeological areas that are found in this region of Mexico, as they
06:41 continue to tour the area and learn about the rich history and culture of the civilizations
06:46 that were present here before pre-colonial times, and the traditions and beliefs that
06:53 they practiced back in those years.
06:58 All this is important to remember, that is, as part of the work agenda of the important
07:05 migration summit that is being held right now in Mexico City, with the presence of 11
07:13 heads of state, including Cuba's President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Venezuela's President
07:18 Nicolás Maduro, Colombia's President Gustavo Petro, Prime Minister of Haiti, Henri Henry,
07:27 and many others, are taking part in this important summit that is held here in Mexico to try
07:34 to find solutions to the migratory crisis that is hitting the region.
07:42 Remember we'll have later in the afternoon an important, that we will try to cover live,
07:47 an important press conference referring to the results of the summit that were addressing
07:53 these migratory issues, these migratory flows.
07:56 So stay tuned with Treasure English for that information and for much more.
