TCU offensive lineman Andrew Coker says that a good week of practice is only the starting point as he reacts to the Horned Frogs' loss to Kansas State 41-3 in Week 8.

00:00 You've been through some seasons like this before your time here.
00:04 What's the message to the team to kind of keep, I guess,
00:06 keep that focus towards finishing the season strong?
00:10 I mean, there's two ways to go, right?
00:13 You know, like you said, I've been a part of teams like this.
00:18 And in 2020, which was a COVID year, we responded.
00:23 And we went six and four.
00:24 We started off one and three and went six and four.
00:27 And then about a year ago, we started off one and three
00:29 and went five and seven.
00:30 So, my message to the team is there's only two ways to go.
00:34 And who do you want to be? Who are you as a person?
00:35 Because this is really a gut check to your personal --
00:38 to your personal character as much as it is this team.
00:42 I mean, along with that, I'm just going to say that,
00:45 you know, guys, like, we can do what we want to do.
00:48 We just have to -- we have to have the confidence
00:50 and the attention to detail to do it.
00:53 Coach, you all didn't play very well
00:56 in the trenches on both sides.
00:57 What were your kind of overall thoughts
00:59 on how you guys played as a whole line?
01:01 I mean, you hit a spot on. We didn't play very well.
01:03 You know, we got caught, you know,
01:06 playing high, playing timid, not using our hands very well.
01:11 And, you know, they did a lot of what we thought
01:14 they were going to do coming in.
01:15 The problem was that if anything that went --
01:19 didn't go the way that we thought it would,
01:21 we started just second-guessing ourselves,
01:23 not playing very much confidence.
01:24 And Coach is exactly right.
01:25 And if you can't -- I mean, that game right there
01:27 shows you if you cannot establish yourself
01:29 in the trenches, that's what's going to happen,
01:31 both sides of the ball.
01:32 If you cannot stop the run and establish run,
01:35 that's what's going to happen.
01:36 So you guys had a great week of practice.
01:39 So was this surprising for you guys to perform like this?
01:42 I mean, a great week of practice only gives you a chance.
01:44 That's the bare minimum.
01:45 You know, if we practice great,
01:47 that gives you a chance to play well.
01:48 It doesn't mean you are. It gives you a chance.
01:50 So am I surprised? Yes.
01:52 But if you practice great, this can still happen to you.
01:56 You know what I mean?
01:58 So you have to put it together on Saturday.
02:00 So am I surprised? Yes. But it happens.
02:03 Does it kind of have you frustrated
02:05 playing as good as you guys did last week
02:06 and then playing like you did tonight?
02:08 I mean, it's super frustrating
02:10 because you have a glimpse of what you can be, you know,
02:13 and then you turn around and you have --
02:16 football is a very humbling sport.
02:18 You can ride the highest of highs
02:19 and get brought back down to the lowest of lows within weeks.
02:22 So right now we're at a very low point.
02:24 Last week we were at a very high point.
02:25 But it is very frustrating because you see what you can do.
02:29 You know, you've seen what this team can be
02:32 whenever we're clicking or playing complimentary football.
02:34 But then you see what this team can be when we do none of that.
02:36 So it is very frustrating.
02:38 How beneficial do you think a bye week can be
02:40 to just kind of let you guys kind of just mentally reset?
02:43 I think it's going to be huge.
02:44 I think we need to figure out who we are again.
02:45 I think we need to figure out what we want to do again.
02:48 And that bye week is just time, like you said,
02:50 mentally and physically to just kind of sit back and reflect.
02:53 You know, we've been through eight weeks.
02:54 We have four games left.
02:57 So we have four games left.
02:58 We have to figure out what we want to do with those four games.
03:00 Because we can beat every single team on our schedule.
03:02 We know that.
03:04 We've beaten every single team on our schedule.
03:05 We know that we can beat everybody.
03:06 The problem is, is do we have the confidence
03:09 and do we have the attention to detail to have that success?
03:11 And I think we need to really question ourselves, players, coaches,
03:14 anybody within our walls,
03:16 to really question themselves and figure out
03:17 what we want to do with these next four weeks.
03:20 Anything else for Andrew?
