IMF demand: Provinces fall short in meeting surplus budget target
Transcript
00:00 Subo's surplus budget, the target set by IMF, was very low.
00:05 July to September, the surplus target was Rs 187 billion,
00:09 of which only Rs 51 billion could be achieved.
00:11 Shoaib Nizami, what is the reason for this?
00:13 Sir, the surplus of Subo, which is the reason why the budget of the state is getting reduced,
00:18 there has been a huge reduction in that, and especially the budget of Punjab is getting reduced,
00:22 which is approximately Rs 28 billion, which was surplus of Rs 125 billion last year.
00:26 In the second year, Rs 775 billion was to be given to Subo, which is the most important target of IMF.
00:33 And what the IMF said was that it is standing on the threshold,
00:36 and in such a situation, only Rs 51 billion was achieved in the surplus,
00:40 whereas its target was Rs 147 billion.
00:43 From the side of Pakistan, it has got a surplus of Rs 71 billion,
00:46 whereas from the side of Sindh, it has got a surplus of Rs 19 billion,
00:49 but the big target has been reduced,
00:51 and the reason for this is that the budget of Subo is not in Pakistan,
00:57 but in Punjab, and the budget of Pakistan has been spent more,
01:00 which is the reason why the surplus has been reduced.
01:02 Thank you very much, Shoaib Nizami.
