00:00 San Jose del Monte is a remaining component city in Bulacan.

00:04 In a plebiscite in the province on Monday,

00:06 along with the barangay and the youth elections,

00:09 the San Jose del Monte was won by almost 200,000 votes

00:12 by those who voted to make it a highly urbanized city or HUC.

00:17 A few days ago, the count was over.

00:20 In 2020, former President Rodrigo Duterte converted the city as HUC

00:26 after the City Council asked for it.

00:28 But a plebiscite was needed to ratify it.

00:31 According to the local government code,

00:33 the city can be made into a HUC with over 200,000 residents

00:38 and an annual income of more than Php50 million.

00:42 If the vote of yes was accepted,

00:44 San Jose del Monte would have autonomy or its own power

00:48 that is separate from the control of Bulacan.
