00:00 These ambulances rush to enter Egypt through the Rafah crossing, transporting injured Palestinians
00:06 from Gaza to be treated in Egyptian hospitals.
00:09 The patients are among the first civilians to leave the strip since Israel placed a total
00:14 siege on Gaza after Hamas' deadly attack on October 7th.
00:19 Egyptian authorities have sent them to eight hospitals in north Sinai and Cairo, whilst
00:24 their families are hosted in two different cities.
00:27 "The Egyptian side informed us that the Rafah crossing points will be open for foreign passport
00:36 holders and the wounded.
00:37 Today, we expect that 81 wounded people will leave Gaza.
00:43 According to a name list we received from Egypt, around 500 foreign passport holders
00:48 will leave Gaza."
00:49 A deal mediated by Qatar between Egypt, Israel and Hamas allowed limited evacuations from
00:59 the Palestinian territory, among them are foreign and dual nationals from Italy, Austria,
01:05 France, Germany, US and Australia.
01:09 This follows the release of four hostages by Hamas and the rescue of one Israeli soldier.
01:14 The UN also announced that humanitarian aid entered the besieged strip via the same crossing.
01:20 "Yesterday, 59 trucks carrying water, food and medicines entered through the Rafah crossing.
01:28 This is the largest convoy since the delivery of aid resumed on October 21st, bringing the
01:33 total number of trucks up to 217 since that date.
01:38 However, the entry of fuel, which is desperately needed to operate life-saving equipment, is
01:44 still barred."
01:46 Israel continues to block the entry of fuel into the Gaza Strip in fear of Hamas using
01:51 it to boost its military operations against the Israeli army.
