00:00 The trails at Johnson Valley are as diverse as the rigs that wheel in the area.
00:07 The trails can range from loose sand dunes and hard-packed dry washes to huge rock obstacles,
00:19 each considered challenging enough for most rigs.
00:26 Johnson Valley is definitely a place to have fun, but there's a serious side to what these
00:33 enthusiasts are doing too. One that definitely sheds new light on who they are and what they're
00:41 really about. Primedia's group of enthusiast magazines, along with some dedicated volunteers,
00:47 organized the Johnson Valley Cleanup recently to help promote the sport for future generations
00:51 of wheelers.
00:52 Steve, this is fantastic. I mean, all these people are out here, hitching in to help clean
00:57 up the desert. Was this your brainchild?
00:59 Yeah, I guess so. I think, you know, obviously some people have done this before, but it
01:04 was my idea to do it through Primedia.
01:06 You know, a lot of these people are out here all the time using this place, but you see
01:11 them racing around in the desert or rock crawling, but you seldom see anything like this.
01:16 Yeah, you know, we come out here a lot and we always notice that it's kind of dirty and
01:20 we thought that, wow, you could really clean this place forever and never really finish.
01:25 So this is probably, hopefully the first of a lot of these for us.
01:29 Well, I see we've already found some cars out there and dragged them in. Have a dumpster
01:34 over there that's halfway full. Looks like we're going to find more garbage than we have
01:38 ways to get it out of here.
