00:00 - RZA, good to see you, congratulations.
00:02 30 years later, here we are at the Empire State Building.
00:05 What did you guys do, like mentally,
00:07 that made people stay with you 30 years later?
00:09 That music, it still doesn't get old,
00:12 it's still relevant today.
00:14 - I think we captured a moment in time.
00:16 This building is a capture of a moment in time.
00:18 You think about a building like this when,
00:20 in the early 30s, right?
00:25 They build this building and it's still standing.
00:29 I think we captured a moment in time of New York history,
00:32 of youth, of ourselves, of the vernacular and the flow
00:37 that was really pure, unadulterated New York.
00:41 And I think that people around the world,
00:43 this city, people dream of this city around the world.
00:46 And people come from around the world.
00:48 And some people who couldn't make it,
00:49 they got here because of that album.
00:52 And those who live here can relate to it
00:54 because they lived it through the album.
00:56 So I think that it's one of those records
01:00 which we call a rite of passage.
01:02 If you were not going here though,
01:06 but for a lot of people, the first time you puff on
01:09 some Chronicle, you may discover Bob Marley.
01:14 So who has this discovery part of life?
01:18 I think that when somebody finds it, it becomes part of them.
01:22 And for those who already enjoyed it,
01:24 I think it still has a semblance to who they are.
01:27 - What brought you guys together in the first place?
01:29 Like how did that come together?
01:31 What, like, where did you guys sort of sink?
01:33 How did it make it work?
01:34 How'd you guys make it work?
01:35 - Well, it's strength in numbers, you know, unity.
01:37 You know, we came together for art, music,
01:40 the talent, the common denominators
01:44 that was all in our lives, you know.
01:45 And really, quite frankly, for a lot of us,
01:48 our mothers knew each other.
01:49 - Really?
01:50 - You know what I mean?
01:51 Yeah, quite frankly, a lot of us,
01:52 we're friends or knew each other in the neighborhood.
01:55 And a lot of us, you know, you think about a lot of us,
01:58 a lot of our histories are, you know,
02:01 public school, junior high school, you know.
02:05 So it's always, so you're looking at the community
02:07 when you look at Wu-Tang.
02:08 And I think that's another thing that people relate to.
02:10 You can feel the family community, good and bad.
02:13 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:14 - Good and bad, you know, like today,
02:16 it's like a wedding that some of the guys
02:17 didn't make it to, right?
02:18 But you'll see them somewhere else, you know what I mean?
02:20 - Yeah, well, congratulations, sir.
02:21 It's awesome. - Thank you.
02:22 - It's a great honor, sir, privilege.
