00:00 - The boarders seemed like you guys were able to take control pretty early and
00:04 take that through the rest of the game. How'd you feel like the pace and the way you guys
00:08 dictated the way the game went? - We talked so much about flipping the script on
00:12 the rebounding. I'm sure the guys said the same thing.
00:16 Central Michigan had 14 offense rebounds. We had seven. And we wanted to
00:20 flip the script. We knew Mississippi Valley the other night against LSU had 17.
00:24 So we were like we need to flip the script.
00:28 I thought we had 20. And we held them to
00:32 seven. So I loved that. I thought we had a lot of good open threes.
00:36 I was clapping. We moved the ball against the zone. We spaced it.
00:40 We just missed a lot of them. But then we got the rebounds of it. And that's what you want to do against a zone.
00:44 That's the supposed weakness of zones is rebounding. So I thought
00:48 Sam got one. I mean just seven offensive rebounds. Waldo got a handful of them.
00:52 So I just thought that's a great sign. We've talked about
00:56 we want more possessions because we're more athletic. Crash in the glass.
01:00 And I thought we did that.
01:04 [game]
01:08 It's really good. This is a group that
01:12 takes coaching. And we talked about
01:16 the boxing out to end. I thought we didn't do it very well the first day.
01:20 We talked about our second half defense. Even at halftime we got on them about
01:24 our second half defense has to be better. So we wrote up the number I think was
01:28 36 or 38. We wrote on the board. 36
01:32 field goal percentage. And we said our second half defense has got to be better than it was
01:36 last week's. And they held them to 28% the second half.
01:41 So I love that this group hangs on to what we're saying and not just
01:45 goes in one ear out the other. They really hang on and want to get better.
01:49 We got to continue to get better a lot of things.
01:53 I'd like to see a share in the ball. I thought we moved it. We shared it.
01:57 Our bench continues to give us an uplift.
02:01 Our five, Sam had a double double in 15 minutes. John comes in.
02:05 John gets nine and something. That's great production.
02:09 Taye had 20. You come in with Waldo who had double figures. And Latre'
02:13 we're deeper. It's just noticeable. And it's good to see
02:17 that when you get guys in your bench
02:21 it's almost uplifting with the energy defensively.
02:25 [unclear]
02:29 Well one, he's not pressing. And I want him to continue
02:33 to emphasize that. Let it come to you.
02:37 I see him intentional getting his eyes up
02:41 on all the little shots. Sometimes he just flew it up. You saw him
02:45 fall on the ground a lot. He's not. He's staying up there getting his eyes for him.
02:49 He's doing transition stuff. He got another, we call him DCO, he had another steel
02:53 layup. I think he might have two of those. He had two of those the other night. He's really going
02:57 he's really getting out in transition.
03:01 I love that about him. I think he got some offensive rebounds too. I think he might have had three. He got three
03:05 offensive rebounds, 20.6 rebounds, and three steals.
03:09 And three steals. So he's getting some stuff off his defense
03:13 in transition as well.
03:17 [unclear]
03:22 You know
03:26 it is. The person gives a shot. We're totally comfortable
03:30 with him shooting. And he is too. He's two for two.
03:34 It's not like he's trying to force it. It just came to him.
03:38 His ball handling is better. His ball handling is better.
03:42 He did what you're supposed to do. You get better in the offseason.
03:46 You're older. You're another year where you're more comfortable.
03:50 And he just seems that way. We just got to keep him going and rarely just
03:54 let it come to him.
03:58 [unclear]
04:02 Yes. So you know
04:06 Caden is an ankle sprain day by day.
04:10 Jaylen is a hamstring day by day.
04:14 He's a goal. Once you put him in the game, then he's
04:18 kind of like the Luke Norweather thing. You know what I'm saying?
04:22 Once you put him in the game, his year is done. But if you don't put him
04:26 in the games, then you can end up red shirted.
04:30 [unclear]
04:34 [unclear]
04:38 [unclear]
04:42 You got some versatility with those guys. How much is that going to help your squad?
04:46 It is because I think Luke gives you a different thing too
04:50 because he can pick and pop. We only played him a couple possessions at the five
04:54 tonight. And it's hard because we're trying to find minutes at the five for him. But like
04:58 Sam and John were really... You know you got two productive centers
05:03 coming in. But Luke can play. That's why we're trying to really get him in there
05:07 because he can space the floor with the way he shoots.
05:11 Want to continue to get him comfortable.
05:15 He's a freshman. He's in his second college game.
05:19 Want to continue to get him comfortable in there.
05:23 [unclear]
05:27 Thank you guys.
