00:00 You don't really get anything in the second half, but
00:02 the go-might stance seems to be kind of something your team can hang their head on.
00:07 >> Well, I think it says a lot about their belief and their mentality.
00:11 And I'm very, very proud of that, cuz that's hard to do.
00:16 That's really hard to do.
00:18 And at the same time, proud of the win, and there was a lot of good things.
00:22 But cuz they were seventh ranked Russian offense in America coming in here, and
00:26 it scored a lot of points, so did a good job for the most part.
00:33 There's some things we've gotta clean up and get better,
00:35 like the middle eight right there.
00:37 Gotta do a better job with that.
00:39 But to clean up the mistakes, but I'm so proud of them.
00:42 And cuz they didn't wallow in self-pity, they came back and they went to work.
00:47 And today, their efforts and their attitude and their belief got rewarded.
00:51 >> Brent mentioned the emotional what Danny brought back to the team.
00:55 What was it like these last two weeks, just seeing him anxious to play and
00:58 fight through his energy and try to get back on the field?
01:00 >> Well, Danny's a warrior.
01:01 He loves to play.
01:04 He loves his teammates.
01:05 He loves to compete.
01:07 And that's the awful part of an otherwise great game is when somebody gets injured.
01:11 But you missed that presence on the field.
01:13 It was good to get him back out there tonight.
01:16 And we played a bunch of different combinations at linebacker.
01:19 But it was great to have him out there.
01:21 And cuz he did a great job leading our guys.
01:25 Well, he wasn't on the field these past couple weeks.
01:28 That's who he is.
01:29 So proud of him at the same time, looking forward to continued development,
01:33 continued improvement, continued health.
01:35 >> Yes, Brent, this question, I know you don't get caught up on individual awards,
01:39 but he was in the semifinals for the Buckus Award, which caught a lot of you
01:41 off guard. What are your thoughts on something like that for Danny?
01:44 >> I believe in Danny Stutzman.
01:46 I know what kind of football player he is.
01:47 >> We know Danny and Kip individually very capable.
01:52 What struck you about the partnership and
01:54 then playing together the way they did in the first place?
01:57 >> Just different type of players.
01:59 It's good to have a guy out there that's battle tested and scarred up and
02:03 been through the fights like Danny.
02:05 With a guy like Kip who's just starting to play and move into that role.
02:09 And it was like I said,
02:11 there were a lot of different combinations that played tonight.
02:14 But it's good to have that stabilizing presence in there with a young guy.
02:17 So when young guys make mistakes, which is something young guys do,
02:21 that he's able to help get him back on track and not stay off the track too long.
02:26 >> I just asked Danny about this, he remembers meeting Kip,
02:29 this undersized kid who had a lot to learn.
02:31 What do you recall about the linebacker you came across?
02:34 >> A guy that could really, really, really run.
02:37 And a guy that was undersized, but at the same time, he's done a good job.
02:42 And Coach Schmitz has done a great job helping put the weight on our
02:46 nutritionist and so pleased with him.
02:49 And he's gonna do nothing but just get better.
02:52 He's gonna continue to get bigger cuz this is important to him.
02:55 And again, another guy that just cares a lot about this team.
02:58 >> I wanna ask you about, I was looking forward,
03:03 we'll get to talk to you before Provo.
03:04 Have you been to Provo?
03:06 >> Yeah, I have.
03:07 I was there and I don't remember what year it was, but
03:10 the guy that's quarterback for the Saints Hill, he was a quarterback there.
03:15 Yeah, I remember it was a great environment, great atmosphere.
03:18 If you're a competitor, you wanna be in those types of places.
03:21 And so- >> Last two road games,
03:23 just what can you learn from those two games at Lawrence and Stillwater that you
03:26 can take on the road to Provo next week as a defense?
03:29 >> Well, physicality and execution travel, mindset travels.
03:35 And we've gotta do a better job than what we've done on the road.
03:39 And there were a lot of good things, but
03:42 didn't quite get it done a couple times.
03:46 And the little things make big things happen.
03:48 And those are the lessons that I think that we've learned the last couple weeks,
03:52 painful lessons.
03:53 But at the same time, we've learned them and we're fighting on and moving forward.
