Apec San Francisco protesters span gamut of political issues, call for Gaza ceasefire

A lively crowd gathered on Sunday (Nov 12) in San Francisco to protest a meeting of cross-Pacific political leaders and a wide spectrum of other issues, including those calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. 00:38 -We need to really work on our solution to the climate emergency, the climate crisis.

00:45 We are so far getting an F. I'm here to grade our response so far,

00:50 and I hope we can work it up to a D, C, B, and an A,

00:54 but so far we are failing to address this emergency.

00:58 -The presidents of 21 countries are here in San Francisco.

01:02 They will be here until the 19th.

01:05 They are spending a lot of money to welcome them and treat them like kings.

01:09 They are saying that they have already asked for more than $20 million

01:14 to welcome them and treat them the best.

01:17 While our community is in chaos,

01:21 we see that there are a lot of homeless people here.

01:24 Some don't have a home, others don't have a job.

01:27 -You know, I'm not sure that all of us have the same political views on everything,

01:32 but I do think it's important for people to kind of get over their differences

01:37 and come together over specific issues,

01:40 and I do think that APEC is a very specific issue.

01:44 -Her and I agree on a lot, you know.

01:46 I feel very pessimistic at the moment.

01:49 You know, I'm just--I'm very disappointed.

01:55 It's an understatement, but, like, I don't know.

02:00 I'm just devastated.

02:03 I see the things happening, you know, repeatedly,

02:07 and there's no lessons being taken from the past at all.
