00:00 Well, good morning, everyone.
00:01 Welcome, especially a warm welcome to those for whom it's
00:03 their first Cabinet, and also welcome to those for whom it may
00:07 not be their first time.
00:08 (laughter)
00:09 Lovely to have you all here.
00:11 Our purpose is nothing less than to make the long-term decisions
00:15 that are going to change our country for the better.
00:18 And I know that this strong and united team is going to deliver
00:21 that change for everybody.
00:22 We've got an important week coming up.
00:24 On Wednesday we'll have inflation numbers.
00:26 We'll also have the Supreme Court ruling on our Rwanda plan.
00:30 And next Wednesday the Chancellor will be delivering
00:31 an important autumn statement.
00:33 And across all of that, I'm confident that we can
00:35 demonstrate to the country that we're making progress on the
00:38 priorities that I set out at the beginning of the year -- to
00:41 halve inflation, grow the economy, reduce debt,
00:43 cut waiting lists, and to stop the boats.
00:45 But you all know that is not the limit of our ambitions.
00:48 We want to build a better future for our children and for our
00:51 grandchildren, and that is what this team is going to do.
00:54 Whether it's navigating the crises in Ukraine and the
00:57 Middle East to demonstrate that we will stand up for our values
00:59 and provide security for everyone here at home,
01:02 but also to make the big, bold decisions that will
01:05 drive change.
01:06 A new approach to infrastructure spending,
01:08 ushering in a generation of children that will grow up
01:10 smoke-free, reforms to how we approach net zero to save
01:13 families thousands of pounds, and radically reforming our
01:16 education system with more teachers, higher standards,
01:19 and more apprenticeships.
01:20 That's the change that we're going to deliver.
01:22 And looking around this table, I know that we have an energetic
01:25 and enthusiastic team that is going to deliver for the country.
01:28 So let's get to work.
01:29 Thanks, everybody.
